You guys are the bomb!!! I've learnt so much in just 6 videos so don't stop now please lol......I recently just bought a Windsor Windcheater poptop that I'm gonna reno myself (with a little help from some friends, maybe) and I'm old enough to be your mum haha...got a bit of experience turning a little white van into a micro camper that I've been weekend tripping in but this is a much bigger challenge. Stripped it out already and want to repurpose what I can. But loving the love, care and attention you've given to Sunny, breathing new life into this gorgeous van. I'm staying tuned, and enjoy Qld, it's not a bad place really :)

Thank you so much!! We’re super glad these videos are helping in some way for you! We have lots of episodes coming so certainly won’t be stopping 😃 You’re Windsor project sounds awesome! They’re a great van! It can become quite overwhelming when you’re looking at an empty shell but trust the process and keep visualising the end product and it’ll get you through. We’re really enjoying QLD! 😊 thanks again for the support and all the best with the reno! Joss + Ell

Guys very inspiring. Have stumbled upon your nice videos for caravan reno inspo. Im about to do my 89 Viscount hopefully just after winter. I live in Victoria so its very dreadful and cold at the moment. I had exactly the same idea in mind with the pull-out kitchen under the bed and it just good to see someone is already doing it and I get to see how its done. Thanks guys! looking forward to more videos!

Great stuff..... and i aint blowing wind up ur skirts either....lol. Nice to see u have a Triton MK3 saw bench, that thing is an antique and worth alot of money and it looks in better condition then mine..... Gotto go the OZITo brand stuff..... u cant beat the 3 year replacement warranty and yes I been eyeing off the shopvac. Lucky ur camper has aluminium wall studs my glandale 81 20ft has them too but only on the sides not front or back or roof so i am gonna have to fork out extortionist prices for more aluminium to replace the wood studs on front and back and add box tubing ribbing to bolst up extra support for the roof, to atleast hold the weight of solar panels. I was thinking of replacing the floor with formply 17mm which cost 95$ a sheet at bunnings so that wud be 3.5 sheets with an added weight of 110kg..... would u do it with formply if u had to?
@jossandell
@jossandell Жыл бұрын
Thanks heaps for the nice comments mate we really appreciate it! That’s my dad’s old triton work bench. Still works well although I found the scale where you adjust the fence to be a little bit inaccurate but you learn to live with it lol. Yeah can’t go wrong with the ozito stuff you don’t get a heap of use out of it. For the price it’s not too bad! Yes having aluminium framing throughout the van is definitely a plus, I would hate to see what water damage there would have been if it were a timber frame van. As far as new flooring in your van I reckon you could get away with just a structural plywood. You could use marine grade if you wanted to but will cost more. I reckon a good structural ply and waterproof the underside with a waterproofing membrane. Thanks again mate! Joss + Ell

@andrewmadge
@andrewmadge Жыл бұрын
@@jossandell I figured you would do both the tape and silicone. Now for a bunch of questions! haha Did you use any joints across the sheets of plywood? I'm looking at the plyco stuff but its not cheap on shipping :( Doing the electrical run did you chat with sparky first or just had in mind what you'd ask them to do later on? Great vid by the way, its hard to do recording and get help from others. Makes complete sense to why and how you did the work.
@jossandell
@jossandell Жыл бұрын
@@andrewmadge that’s it haha. No worries! Yep we used a wall join from Bunnings which seemed to work alright. I’ll link the one I used below 👇 www.bunnings.com.au/wall-art-joiners-2400mm-snow-white-sheet-panel-joiner_p6660411 As far as freight it was ridiculous! I think our freight quote came back at $275 🫣 so I ended up getting them to freight it to a company my old man works for which wasn’t far from their depot and only cost me $90 as a flat rate, and then the next delivery from the company my dad works for back this way I got them to pop it on the truck. It sucks it costs so much otherwise! If I lived closer I would have just picked it up myself. Otherwise, just check that Bunnings can’t special order it in, I never actually checked that 🤔 With the electrical, I had in mind exactly where I wanted things to go and how I wanted them to work and the sparky suggested the best ways to go about things and he came back once I finished all the 12V side of things and fitted up all the outlets and circuit breakers as legally you can’t do any of the 240V stuff yourself. Thanks for understanding mate! It’s hard to hook in and then have to stop to set the camera up etc

How’s the insulation going with the 10mm foil board? Trying to decide on whether I should go 10 or 20, I’m down in Melbourne and need to keep warm.
@jossandell
@jossandell 2 ай бұрын
The foil board seems to be working well! We went with the 10mm as we don’t have much room between the wall cavity and wanted a bit of room to still run cabling. We also ran ours with the reflective side facing out hoping it would keep the warm out so I don’t know whether running it with the reflective side facing in would help keep it warmer on the inside?

Hi Joss another great video. Can I ask you a question what was the Original GVM of the caravan from factory. Reason I am asking is I have the same caravan but 1977 model and when it was given to me I had to get a blue slip to get it registered, the mechanic could not find that model any where and did not know what to write down on the paper work. My caravan weighed 750 kilos so he just added another 200kilos on top which is not much. so was just wondering if you know from factory what they put down. Cheers Bill
@jossandell
@jossandell Жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, thanks heaps! This had me super confused also. So when we bought the caravan it was registered under South Australian rego and on the rego paper it had the tare weight as 820kgs and the GVM as 820kgs also which couldn’t have been right. There was nothing on the van that specified any weights so when we got it blue slipped to re-register it under NSW rego, the mechanic who did the blue slip put down the GVM as 1680kgs 🤷‍♂️ I have no idea where he got that figure from and it seems like too much considering that’s double the vans tare weight in payload but I’ll take it! I wouldn’t have an actual clue what all the weights are from factory.
