22:40 "there is no energy force that does not have a role to play" I like that line! It speaks to the idea that every form of energy-whether it's a person, an idea, or even a circumstance-serves a purpose.Think of the billionaire. Their energy is focused on creating wealth, leading companies, influencing economies, and shaping industries. The homeless guy on the street? His energy is different, but still serves a purpose. It might teach others empathy, bring attention to social issues, or even act as a reminder of how life can change. Every situation, no matter how big or small, has an impact. In essence, this line is a reminder that everyone and everything, no matter their status, has a role in the overall system of life.

As a Kenyan in the states, Mac-G has an ability to collapse the distance between the interviewee & the listener with magical ease & his bonhomie somehow produces an ephemeral sense of intimacy with someone I don't know & whose culture I am completely foreign to. As an atheist myself i was completely arrested by this woman's spiritual journey; it's akin to reading a good novel from a different culture, where all you left with is empathy and curiosity.

No Maan MacG is a Goat. He is by far one of the few best SA interviewers of all time. These interviews don't even feel like interviews. Its more like people are chilling under a tree just casually having a conversation. You almost feel like you are there with them. This and Unati's are the best this year thus far. You can throw in Brian Baloyi's as well in the mix.

Mkabayi KaJama - The king maker. Dawn was born to play the role of Mkabayi. I believe she was chosen by Mkabayi herself to play that character. The power in her voice, how she walked and talked. That role honestly saved my life. To see a woman so strong and unbreakable. A force that challenged men and gained their respect at such a time in history - woow. What a force ❤
@lekis5975Ай бұрын
Women were *valued* and greatly empowered in the traditional African society.Our ancestors knew, without the womb lineages would stagnate and die, that's why ILOBOLA (in the form of cattle and land) was gifted to the bride. African women gained wealth and status upon marriage, and after bearing children. African women owned the land; the female cycle is tied to the moon (the moon is vital to crops), when women cultivate the land the harvest is more bountiful. The Queen Mother (mother of the King) sat on the Council of Elders. Europeans destroyed our way of life when they brought CAPITALISM and TOXIC PATRIARCHY.
@thefamousdjxАй бұрын
@@lekis5975 wow never thought of lobola like this, good explanation
@lekis5975Ай бұрын
@@thefamousdjx imagine, in European culture, it's the GIRL who used to pay lobola, to this day, it's the father of the bride who pays for the wedding!! Back in Victorian times,, women weren't allowed to work (especially aristocratic and middle class women) subsequently upon marriage, a father had to pay dowry to ensure his daughter would be looked after. Men (especially 2nd and subsequent sons of aristocracy) would target girls from wealthy families for their dowry. In Eurooean culture men, were encouraged to marry well (gold digging; Prince Phillip is a perfect example. He married his meal ticket and then chomped at the price of the entree). Some unscrupulous men would chow the money, and then commit the woman to an asylum (divorce was highly frowned upon) and then look for victim No 2. Things got so bad, Parliament (UK) had to pass the Married Women's Property Act 1882, the law allowed the bride's father to create a Trust for the daughter, in order to protect the dowry and any income! Abhelungu never valued women. Our grandmothers owned land, they brought grains, fruit, vegetables, seeds and nuts to the table. Men herded cattle and hunted (and fished where possible) so they brought meat to the table. Our grandmother's were going dutch way before the w hite women knew the meaning of the word. The coloniser was so shocked when he came to Africa and found women tilling the land, managing the granary, selecting seeds (intellectual property), trading (women sold excess produce, therefore they controlled the market). They introduced their culture CAPITALISM and started selling land, thereby creating a society of haves and have-nots. They not only pushed women from landownership, they also started pushing women into the kitchen (undermining us) thereby creating a culture of TOXIC MASCULINITY. White women were oppressed that's why they birthed the FEMINIST MOVEMENT to fight for their rights. Patriarchy, capitalism and feminism are contrary to African culture. We need to go back to our ways to bring back equity and balance in the African society!!
