In terms of dressing, Nancy gave viewers what to talk about, and she anchored the show well, Kate Henshaw only focuses on Praiz, and she even says judging by the coaches, I feel u have given ur verdict already, who does that biko. My overall thought, I think waje’s team is pretty mid right now, perhaps she’s saving momentum for later but here are my top observations. 1. Letting Deborah go. What Deborah has no coach can teach and what she doesn’t have, she can be taught. I don’t understand wajes thought process in letting her go but my God can she turn an ordinary song to give it that ‘X’ feel. 2. Martin. During the knockout and blinds is where diamonds on the rough emerges, people you never saw coming during the blinds and they just shock you. His song choice was bold and the juxtaposition of his personality with the song i immediately lowered expectation, so when he delivered as he did, it made it more impactful. Kudos to him. 3. Mathew, omg this breaks my heart because I’m a classical singer as well and as a big fan of the voice franchise I see classical singers struggle a lot and it always comes down to SONG CHOICE. Ironically, you raised me up song is a perfect eg of a contemporary song choice for Mathew, Waje please do research on song choices for this guy, Tom jones is an amazing the voice coach reference, he picks the perfect songs for classical singers. This expectation of versatility doing classical music is hard to execute, it either falls flat or just mid. But to be extraordinary you have to select songs that are within that genre or contemporary songs that fit his tone.
