Episode 8 | The Return

In the beginning of this story, she said she had been gone 9 years, which made her son 8 years old. So why, towards the end of this chapter, is she saying that she's been gone for 5 years and the son is being portrayed as if he's 4 or 5 years old? The story works better if the original timeline remains the same. Also, why at the end of this episode are we now being told that she had an illness that makes her tired and that it's coming back?
