Love this channel and what you guys are doing so this bit of critical advice comes from that standpoint. There is a lot of background noise making it very hard for an old man like myself to hear conversations. Maybe you can choose locations that are a bit less noisy to converse. Thanks and thanks for what your doing and sharing it with us. You are fighting the good fight.

Great show guys. Keep up the good work! It would be good to marry up those scores with a blank form to see what categories are scoring the highest. Is that the standard Smith test or their own customised report form?

We like the Smith test and often reference it as a guide when considering a report. But we record a lot of sightings some good, some weak and we are keen when a modern sighting happens in a place of good thylacine habitat and historical thylacine activity.

ThylacineResearch Thanks What I was asking is the form that was redacted, was that a standard smith test form or was it something proprietary to the department. It seemed to have some scores visible and it would be interesting to see a blank copy of that form to see what the categories were that resulted in the data you could see on the right hand side. Just curious.

I still can’t believe they didn’t think to start a breeding program back in the day before they became so scarce.

Look at the use of 1080 poison.. different era, same mind set.

They did try, they just didn't know how back then. Breeding marsupials in zoos is not easy. You need space and years of experience. It has only been in the last 30-40 years that Tasmanian devils have been successfully breed in captivity. Wombats are even harder to breed. I think for them to breed they would need an enclosure couple of acres in size. Sadly at the time they were kept in small enclosures with cement floors.

David Fleay the guy that took the last footage of Ben at the Beaumaris Zoo I was planning to try to breed Tazzy Tigers in captivity

@@SLR-hn5yy Fleay actually got probable evidence of wild Tigers in 1946 when he was trying to trap them for the breeding program

If there was a definite sighting the authorities may keep it quiet.

Please improve the audio in your future videos. Lav mic's and a dead cat on the main cameras mic would be a good start. I wasn't going to comment about it, but the last 3 or 4 videos I watched had lots of wind noise throughout them. I also couldn't hear what you were saying in the car in the last video. Been a long time subscriber and still enjoying your videos.

One day I reckon yous will find the thylacine, All it takes is to be in the right place at the right time.

For this species to still be living, the remaining members and there ancestors will have to changed its behavior to becoming a very secretive species .this is very possible and has happened with other species, even humans .it's quite easy if you mostly come out at night and have a good hiding place during the day.
