Gordon I’m happy you are back in school. Already you are improving so please continue to go and do you very best, not someone else’s best but ‘your own’ best. School may be a challenge but overcoming this challenge will help you to eventually have the courage to overcome other challenges that may come later on in life. Education helps in so many different areas of today’s life, and apart from academics you are trained in different ways that can prepare you for the future. Please do not take this opportunity slightly but strive to go even beyond other’s expectations; it will pay off in the end. Through the interview I understand what he said about the subject maths, that maybe it’s becoming overwhelming to be doing something you do not like everyday, maybe the tutor can switch it up and teach other subjects on some of the days. I’m sorry for those challenges you’re experiences at home as well. But don’t give up Gordon you can do it. You did an amazing interview with Gordon, Moses. I’m happy that you were able to encourage him. Maybe you can read to him some of the comments as additional encouragements to him.

Gordon has been out of school for a long time I think his brothers should be more supportive and allow him to focus on his education rather than the animals then see what happens after that.

Ask Gordon if he thinks the army will accept him without math qualification? Do Gordon know any home that chores are not done before/after school? His he aware that former US president Obama children did chores before/after school including washing their own cloths? Since he claimed Math phobia, how much of his time is spent of practicing math (TOT)? What is Gordan study routine? Tell him a child MUST (no option) study two hours every night (except one, or as parents give time off) because studying is on the level of sleep and eating.

The purpose for tutoring is to strengthen the subjects that students are weak in. It is not designed to be like regular school where many different subjects are being thought. Therefore Gordon's reasons for not wanting to attend is somewhat an oxymoron.

I think if the tutor switch up the subjects, maybe like adding in English or something else on some of the days it will be better. Because doing math at school daily then going daily in the evening as well doing the same thing that is your least favourite subject can be discouraging to anybody

@@davisange we will definitely find out if what he's saying is correct. Maybe math is the subject that they told the teacher that they needed help in the most. Tutoring is for subjects that students are struggling in and not for those that they are doing well in. I have paid tutoring for my own children when they were attending school and they only concentrated on their weak subjects. We will know from Otenga if what Gordon is saying is true.

@@bandit4true I’ve also done tutoring but not on an everyday basis for the same subject. That’s why I get what he’s saying because if it’s a subject I don’t like, doing it daily may make me want to draw away too. Doing it a couple days a week would be ok but sometimes it’s good to switch it up. As you said, we’ll get to know if what he said is truthful.

I’m a retired teacher. You are right. Tutoring should be laser focused on the skill/s in which the student is weak. If they are behind in everything focus, on reading and maybe math.

@@davisange It is called time on task (TOT), you spend more time on perceived difficult task. It should not be varied or mixed to please the patient. REMEDIAL maths classes are designed to diagnose and attend to his lock of reasoning and logics.
