Lyrics:
Remember when hell had frozen over?
The cold still burns underneath my skin
The water is rising all around me
And there is nothing left I can give
All these tears I've shed
I saw the wildfire spread
You said you cheated death
But heaven was in my head
They say the good die young
No use in saying what is done is done
'Cos its not enough
And when the night gives way
It's like a brand new doomsday
What will be will be
Every river flows into the sea
But it's never enough
And when the night gives way
Its like like a brand new doomsday
No matter what they say
It's like a brand new doomsday
The embers still glow when I’m sober
The gold in the flame burns brighter now
I have to rebuild now it's over
Maybe now I’m lost I can live
Souls don’t break they bend
But I sometimes forget
I have to do this for you
And the only way out is through
Death is an open door
Words the prophets said
Still swimming through my head
Now theres no stars left in the sky
'Cos this well will never run dry
What if I completely forget?
What if I never accept?
'Cos when you fade away
Its like a brand new doomsday
They say the good die young
No use in saying what is done is done
'Cos its not enough
And when the night gives way
It's like a brand new doomsday
What will be will be
Every river flows into the sea
But it's never enough
And when the night gives way
It's like like a brand new doomsday
No matter what they say
Its like a brand new doomsday

The video is actually heavily inspired by the fountain, even recreating most of the scenes in the movie almost exactly. Spoilers below. The Fountain is about a man who’s wife is dying of cancer. She’s writing a book about the tree of life, and she leaves it to her husband for him to finish. She passes away, and he writes about himself, traveling through space in a spaceship with the Tree of life that holds her soul. He reaches Xibalba, and the tree dies before he even gets there. He realizes that death is inevitable and incurable, and in order to bring her life, he must sacrific himself. It’s a fantastic movie and I recommend it. I have a whole tat sleeve dedicated to it.

My 12 year little brother lost his fight with cancer last week and I eventually found my way back to this song recently. I knew the lyrics but didn't understand the meaning until now. One of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with, but at least there's others that know my pain, and there's music to express my feelings. Between this song and Always by KSE, they've been getting me through this.

The first time I heard architects was coming home from a guitar lesson in my dads old Yota. We had just had a laugh about how the radio only played the worst heavier music so you’d listen to the mainstream brainwashing. As we joked about about the hosts “architects with doomsday” call out…. The intro riff silenced us. My dad cranked the knob almost instantly. About a year later he surprised me with a concert ticket. I wasn’t a stranger to live shows alone as a young teen-adult. And as powerful as my father has always been, he was nearing his last few crazy shows. I didn’t tell him until last minute. He drove me 3 hours, with the intent to hang out until the show was over and drive home late night. Nah, I bought him a ticket. Got to see Tom shred some of my favorite Riffs. A few years later we had planned to see them again, but Tom passed. And my dad fell very ill. I went to the show alone. A week before my old man left this material world. Holy hell tour was in my top 3 favorite shows of my entire existence. I like to think that my dad was in the vip section with Tom Searle. Annoyingly telling him “my son loves you man he’s down there in the thick of it” and deep in the thick of it I’ll stay for architects 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

(Sorry for my long ass comment) I've been so lucky to have seen Architects live 8 times. I remember this one time they played in Norway on Tom and Dans birthday. As me and my friend walked super early to the venue we met Dan outside. That day was particualarly hard on him (on the whole band really), yet he took the time to chat about tour, life, their music, their fans and their beloved brother Tom. The amount of strength that takes is incredible, and this song proves it even more. With that being said; congratulations on getting married, brother. We are all so proud of you, this band and its members, and of course its legendary music. For Tom, forever. (This song was btw 🔥🔥🔥🔥)

I decided to do that, i live my emotions, if people disrespect me I shout, if Im sad, i cry, i am a big good looking guy, it is rare that someone disrespects me and it is a long time ago since someone had the balls to laugh about me. I see that most people want to do this, i get more likes that hates for this behaviour, people are coming to me and not moving away, some years ago it was different. We are all fucked up, fucking each other in any way, people got enough of this psychopath bullshit mental desease coming from the USA through the media, spreaded all over the world, fake-psychopath-emotions and showing bleached teeth all the time. Mother nature gave us our emotions as the most important part of communication, but since people talk, they talked every fucking thing to death, every time they find a new word for something, you can be sure it is the death of this, they are talking about freedom? Freedom is dead. They are talking about tolerance? Tolerance is dead. They are talking about courage? Courage is dead. And so on. Let's be humans. Sure you have to know your limits and don't behave just like an angry kid. Sorry for my bad english.

You can hear Tom's musical influence, you can tell how much he meant to these guys and just how important his legacy is to them. This song is amazing and so crisp, I'm so proud that Architects are going to continue as a band. The music video is insane, the lyrics are so touching and it shows what an absolute legend Tom was. I have said to people many times before, that harsh vocals, when used in the right way, are not only a good sound, but they can convey emotions that clean vocals may not be able to or not as well, this song 100% proves that, the emotion of this song is felt through these harsh vocals, and I dont think they would be so well conveyed with Cleans all the time

I'm a simple man, I see Architects and I FREAK THE FUCK OUT BECAUSE HOLY SHIT FUCK ME THIS IS SO GOOD, JESUS FUCK! Talking about paying respect to Tom. Doesn't even feel like he's not in the band anymore. When I saw the silhoutte of Dan I mistook him for Tom and my dust allergy kicked in.

Not many people understand this song or what it means.. the lead of the band died and they wrote this song together. Beautiful and sad at the same time

Jhan Gaviria You are wrong there bud, the band never had any lyrical message against the idea of a creator, in fact the last 2 albums had a lot of references to the old testament, who ever wrote the lyrics , was heavily invested in it.

Эта песня даже на 100-ом прослушивании берет за жабры и за самые предвздушия ребёр, покрывает мурашками в припеве! Одна из самых духоподъемных песен, просто Божественно)

Architects are at their most successful right now so of course Epitaph is going to drop $ on these guys. Tom would be so proud of how much influence he's had and how many new fans came to appreciate his band. And the production/video is unreal!

Seems like everyone here has lost a loved one recently, including the band members themselves... Lyrics hit hard as hell. A close relative of mine died of pancreatic cancer in 2020, during the worst time of the pandemic, and really, it affected me to the point that I developped mental health issues I'm still dealing with up to now. Uncle Santos, we miss you so much, man. Please, make some room for when we reunite in Heaven. We're trying to do the best we can here, but it's not the same without you around... 💔😭

Remember when Hell had frozen over? The cold still burns underneath my skin The water is rising all around me And there is nothing left I can give All these tears I've shed I saw the wildfire spread You said you cheated death But Heaven was in my head They say "the good die young" No use in saying "what is done is done" 'cause it's not enough And when the night gives way It's like a brand new doomsday What will be will be Every river flows into the sea, but it's never enough And when the night gives way It's like a brand new doomsday No matter what they say It's like a brand new doomsday The embers still glow when I'm sober The gold in the flame burns brighter now I have to rebuild, now it's over Maybe now I'm lost, I can live Souls don't break, they bend But I sometimes forget I have to do this for you And the only way out is through Yeah, death is an open door Words the prophets said Still swimming through my head Now there's no stars left in the sky 'Cause this well will never run dry What if I completely forget? What if I never accept? 'Cause when you fade away It's like a brand new doomsday Yeah They say "the good die young" No use in saying "what is done is done" 'cause it's not enough And when the night gives way It's like a brand new doomsday What will be will be Every river flows into the sea, but it's never enough And when the night gives way It's like a brand new doomsday No matter what they say It's like a brand new doomsday
