The Alchemy Index albums are soooo underrated
@DetectiveStablerSVU Жыл бұрын
@@Aura-Of-Syrinxit's a whole other level, and I hope it makes it's way into the more "academic"/analytical/historically note-worthy and catalogued side of music history. Looking back with the context of the band's career, and the trends in the genre they participated/competed in, at the time, it's noteworthiness is undeniably eminent.
@DetectiveStablerSVU Жыл бұрын
@@Aura-Of-Syrinx If you haven't yet, check out the re-recording they did very recently of the Artist in the Ambulance album (which was the original lure that got me hooked). Knowing how talented they have become and the type of writing they have branched out and grown into, it's very cool to see them revisit the classic album that is just much more simple and was approachable to everyone that was into post-rock, post-hardcore, alt rock, etc. at the time. Except now you know what they have in their pockets from the rest of their career, and boy does it shine through. Importantly, they didn't try to re-imagine or over produce it. It's true to its original form.

@lostinoc35283 жыл бұрын
This comment is in nearly every video for every band lmao 🤣. Thrice surely has evolved, but is evolving always good? No Thrice was at their best for the artist in the ambulance, and the two previous to that. They are still good, but they won't ever be as good as they were. But that is just my unpopular opinion, so, tear me apart everyone. I'm ready.
@CarlosTrujilloMusic3 жыл бұрын
@@lostinoc3528 You acknowledge that it's simply subjective which is no big deal and nothing to roast you over the flames for. I think for musicians evolution is necessary to not get bored. Art is and will always be highly subjective but for artist a stagnant mind stifles creativity as all avenues become exhausted at some point... And new avenues will arise to maintain creative flow. I think Thrice is a great example of this... It's common to see early phase listeners fall in love with the early sounds produced by some musicians and identify that sound with themselves and the artist. But music isn't meant to cater just to that specific listener and will grow an audience outside of that box eventually as the creators seek to keep exploring their creative potential. They may get labels as sell outs or other negative connotation phrases. But for the artist they thrive and swim in creative potential to fulfill what their minds are built to do. Every album and every intricate change leaves people behind while picking up new listeners. That is not a bad thing.... Some people just don't do well with change. It's common for people to not be musically open-minded and that's not a bad thing either... They know what they like. So naturally, people who like rock, metal, pop whatever it may be will follow and listen to that specific sound. When that band or person tries something outside of that box they tend to leave a bad taste on the mouth of the listener who may not sway outside of that style or sound of music. You can go to my page and see the song I have posted called DANCE OF THE LEAVES. I think it's great and I put a lot of time into that song... A lot of my past listeners didn't appreciate it so much. I came from the metal and punk world... It's all I wrote growing up. My music evolved into something much different. Those who listen to and like metal and punk usually aren't suited for the style I currently play. Its just the way it is. In summary I think in a lot of cases when people say something is not as good or that it sucks.... Really it's just not their taste.

Not everyone has the mentality to feel their lyrics, maybe that plays a huge role in the end. Ppl consume stuff that are shallow (and heavily promoted), usually. Maybe some day they'll be number 1 anyway, who knows. Keane is a band I listened to a lot as a teenager, and the views some of their songs have now seem a bit unbelievable to me. Point is, it took ppl more than a decade to flock there. Maybe, if the world doesn't change too much in the next decade, ppl will flock to Thrice... or even if it changes... to sing Lost Continent while actually drowning or something like that... but ppl are slow (let's not use the other word) in general.... So... I wouldn't worry that much about Thrice not being number 1/2 in the US or anywhere :p But do give it time.
@hawkstrike183 жыл бұрын
@@GobRogan Beyond the Pines rarely fails too, or at least all 4 ppl I've sent it to said they liked it xD Maybe not enough to search for more tho, dunno. But yh... keep in mind that most prefer the energizing stuff and not the pessimistic and more atmospheric (well, from what I've gathered). Being a bit niche is usually interesting (and quality > quantity, etc etc) but you get more attention (and popularity, since you reach more ppl) with being silly and/or crazy, etc, sadly... If only ppl resisted stupidity, immaturity and so on, they'd pick better music too, I think.
