I got this game through pre-order. These were some of my favorite games when I was a kid. I always went to the arcade game when I went to the arcades. Best feature I like is being able to play without dumping in a pocket full of quarters.

I realize I’m not alone here, but I’m old enough to remember when the ninja turtles franchise was Most popular. I remember the arcade games when they first came out and putting quarters in in those machines. I remember the NES trilogy and renting the SNES Turtles in Time. Great memories indeed…

Awesome review. TMNT is a treasure. From platformer, to brawler. Unforgettable experiences. But TMNT 1, that game was tough as nails. Those electro traps in the river, no fun. Loved the arcade game. I remember playing it in a movie theater. Was so much fun Hope there is an opportunity, that you can have a chat with the devs that made these games. 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐀 🍕

i played the arcade game all the way through for the first time in decades. i definitely like turtles in time better. though the shredder final boss in arcade is way more chaotic and long lasting compared to the one at the end of turtles in time.

To play these old NES/SNES/GAMEBOY games after all these years on a Nintendo Switch... damn just blows my mind. Tournament Fighters on SNES was a blast back in the day. Never had a chance to play Turtles in Time on the SNES as a kid. Now I can finally play it.

Can i just say it's great to see the Side-scrolling Superheroes opening again. Shredders' Revenge would have been more than enough this year, but getting the Cowabunga Collection really is just the icing on the cake. Only thing that could make it better is a Cowabunga Collection 2 with the PS2 era Turtles games.

i played online on the xbox. with all 4 fighting (or i'm guessing that's why) the game is slowed down a bit but still playable until someone wants to join and quit and the game freezes up for a few seconds. not a problem unless you have people wanting to join and quit a lot. one time someone joined and the game become unplayable for several minutes

I 100% agree with review but have 1 major complaint (have it on ps4), Forced rewind button. If you want to run the games for score attack / 1cc attempts / speedrun this can null & void a run. This option should always be optional and never be mandated to a button.

I doubt Konami would do anything honorable since they’re too focused with mobile titles and pachinkos. I believe they just help provide Digital Eclipse all the licensing and resources from Nickelodeon to create this collection, so, they did a small work to it while Digital Eclipse did most of the effort in sorting the resources and taking the time to test all the titles before adding in newer options for them.

Hopefully some developer will remake the tmnt fox kids 2k3 show, games and other merchandise. It was a great franchise and classic in its own right. The best ninja turtles action and darkest, most serious series to date. It was based off the comic too why it was more grim and story driven. Felt like I was watching an anime. They need to make more shows based of the original early 80s comics.

Totally agree with you there Victor although I personally would have given it a 10. That's just me though. And it drives me absolutely insane the amount of people that are saying not to buy this game, purely because the online is terrible, as if that's the only mode they play. The fact is that yes we're in an age now with the PS5/PS4/ Nintendo Switch and the PC where we do have online now. But that being said, not everything has to be online and the TMNT video game franchise as a whole were never online to begin with.

I'm glad the turtles are getting more time in the spotlight.. definitely my favorite cartoon , toys and video games from my childhood.. with the release of shredders revenge and this release we got the best collection of retro games ever created in my opinion and I had to throw shredders revenge in because it obviously uses the old catalog as inspiration and has to be seen as a spiritual successor in the series.. sad they couldn't add the turtles in time re-shelled Remake from the xbox 360 to really give every version possible but it's really hard to complain with the content provided this year.. Hopefully the castlevania collections and the turtle collections will spark a ! Over the head of some vp or ceo at Konami to give us a definitive Metal Gear collection Bigger than the xbox 360 and ps3 versions

Nice review, but every review I've either read or seen about the game seems to be ignoring the fact that the audio for the arcade games isn't accurate. First, for some reason, they completely re-recorded the opening song for the first game, and my god is it horrible. The rest of the music sounds like it's a remaster, and not the original authentic audio., And for Turtles in Time, the same thing goes for the audio in this game that it did in the first, where it sounds like they tried too hard to clean up the audio and it sounds "too clean". Not to be the arcade purist snob in the room, but I would have much preferred the kept the audio for the arcade games more authentic.

Yeah, the lack of the original arcade/tv intro music is a nostalgia killer for me. It's hard to articulate how cool it was back then to hear digitized music of the TV show booming across the arcade. That was at a time when licensed music in games was usually just reorchestrated renditions with beeps and boops that were firmly in the audio uncanny valley. I'd feel weird spending $40 on something like this and still having to fire up MAME to play it properly. Also agree about the audio in general -- I suspect that the sample rates of the audio assets are 16/44 or above, when the originals were probably much lower. Considering how much publishers love upselling "deluxe" versions of games, you'd think they'd be able to get the license for the music and make arcade perfect ports -- I'd sooner pay $10 more for something I'm 100% happy with.
