I am going to make one but I'll be using an empty perscription bottle to make the cavity for the hole for the lights

That does look cool. I wonder if there are color changing leds on wire like the ones you used. Time to search for led wires. lol. Might be fun to do a string of the mini skulls with one led in each one. I suppose that if you do a string of the mini skulls, each one could be tinted a different color instead of needing color changing lights.

That would be cool! I'm starting a new resin project tomorrow.. do stick around.. it should be fun!

It would be so neat if you made one with the lights only in the eye sockets of the mold.

Do you use any kind of demolding products?If so what would you recommend??
@obscurityart Жыл бұрын
Hi Steve! Sorry for the late reply! I'm away on holidays until tomorrow! No I don't use any demolding products. The resin sets solid and clear. The mould just peels off easily. Sorry I've never tried the type of stuff you are asking about! 🤷
@yvonnemccaul135 Жыл бұрын
You can use a silicone release spray or even just a small spray of your isopropyl alcohol to pop it out of the mold more easily.

came out awesome. Did you actually make this in 4 days? did you cure for 24 hrs. after each pour?
@obscurityart Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching Debra! I did let it cure inbetween .. So it was either 4 or 5 days.. I cant remember exactly.. It would have depended on my work scedule at the time! I'm really happy with it.. I do my woodwork in the back garden so its still at least a month before I can make the base.. but the lights work brilliantly.. I deffo recommend giving it a go! ;-)

So if there a busted bulb theres no way to fix it?
@obscurityart Жыл бұрын
yep but the bottle lights are made up of many tiny lights.. so all good! And also once its on its stand its pretty much as safe as houses! ;-)

great skull what sort of resin do you recommend to use
@obscurityart Жыл бұрын
I like a 1 to 1 ratio resin... The trick is to stir in one direction while sitting the container of resin in hot water... It makes the bubbles disappear! Slow steady stirring for at least 5 mins.. I just use whichever is the best value from Amazon when I run low... 👍

I'm looking for a hobby, how do i get started doing this?
@obscurityart Жыл бұрын
Hi! Just take a bit of time and watch a few youtube videos where people make something you think is cool.. you'll probably need to buy a few things but start small and just give it a try. The resin itself is never cheap so for a first one just get a small portion in case you dont llike it.. ;-) best of luck. There's moulds and resin available on amazon. keeping the bubbles out is the hard part..
@gcj408 Жыл бұрын
@@obscurityart Thanks, I'll take your advice and check some other videos out. I'll see what happens.

The wires come out the back of the bottom of the skull... It's a standard set if bottle lights.. I'm in the middle of setting it into a hardwood base... Update video in the next few days! I've been a bit invisible on my channel for a few months! Life got in the way.. but working my way back now! 😁
