That is, a Zen-like experience. The drones doing their work. One can just hum or sing in relation to the tonic, stop anytime, no rythmic pressure whatsoever. Thanks for this experience.

Glad you enjoyed them. That's why I uploaded them so people could sing and play over them. 👍

I saw The Glaswegian Droners end their Blackdikes set with this in 2018 - the crowd went absolutely wild!

Why do bagpipes have a constant note before the actual played notes?
@eppleheid
@eppleheid 2 жыл бұрын
The drone sound is made when the piper blows air into the bag to inflate it. The bag is then squeezed with one arm while the piper intermittently keeps blowing air into the bag to keep it filled. Once the bag is squeezed, the air also goes to the chanter so the piper plays the tune.

I have a question. I play a soprano recorder or a bagpipe chanter with this and it harmonize very well. Yet other times Ive gone to play it and the track is not harmonizing with the recorder. Like they are two seperate tones they do not sound together. Other times they do and sound very melodic. Is it the speaker that causes that?
@eppleheid
@eppleheid Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. It's maybe the different timbres of the recorder and the bagpipe drone that doesn't sound quite right for you, if it's not a question of pitch. If you don't like the sound of those two instruments together, then have a look on youtube for the note you want to play against i.e. 'C note'. MMMirrorMan has a lot of tuning notes that sound much more like a recorder if you want to have a play against the videos that he has uploaded?

Well I was wondering if I was losing my mind since the recorder always is in harmony with the d drone. How in the Lord's name did they suddenly separate into 2 separate tones. The sweet sound seemed to have been stricken either in the recorder or the speaker. It works now.

Hey Chris! Is this your original recording? I need to get permission to possibly use on recording.

Hi Martin, yes it is. It's from Celtic Instruments software. I had to run it through pitch correction. See the link below, or use what I have uploaded to KZbin, if that's easier. www.bigfishaudio.com/Celtic-Instruments

@@eppleheid Hey Chris, awesome! I am using it for a background in an original song, I sampled it from your vid to see how it would sound, it sounds incredible so far. I was stressing out about copyright issues. I thought I may have to hire a piper, etc. Thank you so much for putting this together and the link to the Big Fish Audio loops. I'm going to give u credit when the song is released, thanks again!
