I've been using vinegar, on a cotton ball, pat the areas with it, a charcoal face sugar scrub, and now have been using salt, yes salt, as a scrub, and scrub the areas really good, and also, baking soda, paste, they all have been helping, great, don't forget ice packs especially on the swollen areas for 15 to 30 minnutes at a time, a few times a day, or when needed. tfs

The secret to prevent a rash is soap & FRICTION. The oil is tough like axel grease but invisible on the skin. When i hike i pack a baggie with a soapy washrag and when i get hope i scrub from head to toe with a washrag and whatever soap is handy. The washrag and pressure will get the oil off. Wash your clothes in hot water. Since i started using the washrag and scrubbing good, i can work in it and even mow it down as long as i scrub up good afterwards and scrub my tools too

Another thing if rash blisters pop the fluid in them oozes and spreads it more I speak from experience. A fool tried to convince me it didn't spread lol. Insane from never ending itch I went savage rubbed mine with baking soda it draws some urushiol out and dries the rash rinsed it off after a few seconds then applied vinegar let it dry it stung but after no itching for hours

The blisters don't spread the rash it's probably just a delayed outbreak or you're touching contaminated stuff like towels or clothes

I out some zapfel ($40 at Walmart for 1 ounce) and it set the rash on fire. 😮 I'll try the Fast orange and let you know. I would guess I have about 400 very small blisters.

With Fast Orange it works best as a preventative and if you catch your exposure early before the oils penetrate the skin too far.

Liked and subscribed. It’s been a few days of hell! Took some trees down and weren’t aware they were covered in poison ivy. I’ve been using calamine lotion which has helped. My range officer at my local shooting range (A Marine) suggested Fast Orange as well. I’ll try it. I’ve got nothing to lose. Thanks for sharing this.

Hope it helps. It is best to use right after being in contact with it.

If it is in full bloom with scabs this may not work that well now. It is always best as a preventative.

How'd it work. I'm using it now. It certainly kills the itch, but been about a week and still got it. More small bumps are popping up on my arms, but I'm sure it was there the whole time. Just didn't pop up. Not spreading anywhere else

This works for me 💯%. It attacked my hand bad ....after one application itching is gone....swelling and redness down....gonna hit it again 2 more times today. Very safe an effective way to deal with the curse of the Ivy.

I have had it over 3/4 of my body because I did not want to go in due to not having insurance at the time and it was ripped open raw from scratching at that point and I was having troubles walking. Anyways I ended up getting a staff infection. Poison ivy is very serious I have gotten numerous times since then and have phones as long as you don’t itch and dont wash it it will go away in 2-3 weeks sometimes 4. The natural oil in your skin will get it out. You just need to sweat. This time around and I’m trying some oatmeal baths to see if I can speed it up so far does seem like it’s speed it up.

My five kids are all adults now but the runt of the bunch can look at poison ivy and he gets it. Here is the best thing that helps with itching and thus quicker healing... (I have used this on bug bites, sunburns, poison ivy, kids booboos, and blisters. Don't forget to soak your bandaid with this stuff.) Rexall Maximum Strength Oral Pain Relief, 0.41 Fl Oz $4.75 at Dollar General. ❤ I use to walk upwards of 12 miles a day. I would have continual blisters on my toe. I would soak a bandaid eith this stuff and then put it where I needed it. Many hours later I would still be walking strong with no pain.

It didn't work for me. Made it itch even more. This was after it already started itching. The only diy remedy (and I've tried about 12) is when I finally tried hot water, as hot as I can stand it. I know, I know, I read not to do that and that it causes it to spread blah blah blah, but, it worked for me. It completely relieves the itching for 4 or 5 hours. Then I just do it again until it runs its course. Easy peasy. I'll probably still try FO as a preventative.

Sorry to hear about your bout with it. I use it mainly as a preventive now. You do have to catch it early.
@mr.kenslifeshop4034 Жыл бұрын
Never tried this, but I’m guessing that it only works at initial contact. I think I will get a bottle just to try out to see if it works on an active ivy rash. Right now my best Hope has been oatmeal bath with intensive care lotion after or a hydrocortisone lotion that makes you not itch the oatmeal bath totally change the color of the blisters as though the skin was soothed or something.
@thetennesseefrugalcraftsma7383 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is best as a preventative. I have used it when it first appears and it does seem to stop the spread, but that was for me. It may not work the same for others.
