what if tension is unknown? should we assume the total weight of the conductor is the tension? like if we have 10 lb/ft conductor and length of conductor between two poles is 50 ft, so the tension will be 10 * 50 = 500 lb ?

If we neglect wind pressure and determine sag for only conductor weight that is the equal to vertical sag. Easier way but confused it right or not? Anwser please.

in one problem you said tension = ultimate strength / safety factor and in another the formula is different
