Eric, when all else falls away by means of neti, neti, it seems I am pure awareness. I suppose fully realizing that would reduce suffering . . . a good thing. But, I would like to experience, as it seems to me some teachers identify that awareness as that which is undying, for example soul. Or, to suggest this awareness is the true self, or oneness with the universe, or our connection with God, or love. However, althought I may experience this awareness as formless, I wish I could see my pure state of awareness, as something more,. Like that which is evolving and to be reborn. I guess I will need to just be satisfied with a reduction in suffering and stop at the point of secular buddhism don't force a theoretical supernatural persona upon my awareness. Eric, can you reply with your thoughts? Please excuse this long comment/post, I would like to think I have sould but great to get your thoughts. thank you

You say you experience awareness as formless, but then complain it is not taking the form you desire. "don't force a theoretical supernatural persona upon my awareness." - sounds like you are still looking for a "me" in formless awareness. There is no "me". Does formless awareness have a beginning? If not, it is undying for it was never born. Is formless awareness separate from the universe? Would not the separation be a form...and edge? So formless awareness is already one with the universe. Do not seek an experience of undyingness or oneness with the universe, etc. Cease experience seeking. The true Self that is one with universe and undying...that is not experienced. For the eye can not see itself. That is not experienced, for it is that whereby there is experience.
