When continued fraction popped out of the recurrence, that made my day. Thank you for this great lecture series!

dear Dr. Mitchell, thank you for bringing us these fabulous lectures on Quantum condensed matter physics and I always want to express my gratitude to your efforts to make these high-quality lectures happening. I only have a small enquiry at 5:07, when you were applying the Heisenberg Equation of Motion to plug the partial derivative of time dependent annihilation operator with its correspondent commutation notation, it seems that the h bar (the reduced plank constant) is missing. Please correct me if I have missed this part of knowledge.

Thanks for the question. The h-bar is hiding there in the equation of motion, yes, but I've set it to 1 as is customary in QM! This is in the end just a units choice and nothing profound.
