Sadly, I didn't hit the NYC club scene for another two years... which is a bummer because it's hard to catch these guys on the US East Coast, tho I think they are coming to Boston in October this year! Thanks for the upload, and great photos!

love the band and their music, but is it really unique? the amazing Frank Zappa was doing this sort of craziness years previously, for those uninitiated, give it a listen. no, i'm not missing the point of this going down memory lane, just thought of Zappa listening to this!

i'm crazy for both zappa and sparks and i really feel like their music is VERY different. perhaps you could compare it in terms of how it deviates from the norm, but in itself their material is so so so dissimilar. you couldn't possibly sneak a sparks song into a zappa album without people getting suspicious and vice versa

Allthough the sound isn't perfect, I rather listen to this than the "Capitol Theatre - version", with that 😳😭🙄echoing guitar player. Huh. Either this mic doesn't reach to him or they had a different arrangement here.

This was recorded in a nightclub in neighboring New York City where they did four shows, at the Capitol in New Jersey they were second on the bill and it was a shorter set. The club shows were much looser, extended and a lot more spontaneous and fun. Also these recordings have much better sound.
