I cried at Penny’s death not for the fact she died, but instead for the amount of wasted potential that came from it. She is my favourite character from the whole show. Her death in Volume 3 hit me hard and I was genuinely ecstatic that she was back in Volume 7. Her arc that started in this volume of trying to find her humanity and her finally getting it had me hopeful to see how she’d adapt to and learn from it. But no, they had to kill her off in such a cheap way that it would make me cry over it. The credit song also hit me hard too so that didn’t help

I can’t help but imagine a whole other volume with Penny getting used to her human body, and discovering things like crying and going in depth into emotions like love, and then in the volume after that having a heroic sacrifice that feels earned and built up.

3:08 The Hunger Games is another example. Primrose gets her name pulled to be in the Hunger Games and Katniss takes her place to protect her and she also tries to protect her in Catching Fire as well. But then Prim dies in Mockingjay

I can understand why people are pissed on why Prim died. Because it feels like Katniss going into the hunger games was just pointless like her actions meant nothing in the end because Prim died anyway. And that never feel right to me. I wish Prim was alive and living with Katniss and Peeta and being a good aunt to her niece and nephew. Also I think Gale was done dirty too. I wish he had a more happy ending.

4:43 Of course Raven is going to die, she doesn't have "Spring" in her name. _Winter_ Scnhee, Cinder _Fall,_ _Summer_ Rose. Also Ruby is already the Summer Maiden because her mom passed it down to her, she just doesn't know it yet (but Ozpin does). It's obvious when you consider how it was pointed out that her semblance was unusual.

I'm annoyed when I get Stuff wrong myself, which is why I always check how something is written. I understand of course that not everyone does that. Also, you almost got her Name right at first. What’s the point of bringing back a character who died and killing her off again? I don’t hate penny but she isn’t interesting enough for me to care about her. But only redeeming thing I could say about Penny and the finale was the song in the credits. I thought it was sweet coming from Penny point of view of Ruby as a friend.

I agree. It's such a dumb turn. I didn't expect Penny to live on through the rest of the series, but I at least wanted her to be around for two more Volumes. Have her adapt to being a human, and fully understand human emotions. I remember a scene in Volume 7 where she admits to Winter that she couldn't understand some of her choices, so I felt with Penny now human, she can experience more personal moments. Once she truly understands what it means to be human, THEN pull some kind of sacrifice, and not what essentially felt like assisted suicide/euthanization at the end of the Volume. Killing off Penny so soon after such a major change to her character feels like a massive missed opportunity. Sorry for rambling a bit, as it was only responding to the first part of your comment. Haha.

Two things got me about Penny's death. 1: Her being reduced to an interim maiden, basically a place holder. She was made the Winter Maiden JUST to hold on to the power long enough for Winter to finally get it. Since the old woman (I can't remember her name sorry) wasn't going to live long enough. 2: It was basically the only real choice that she ever got to make on her own. Up until then other characters made up her mind FOR her. I don't think she was ever allowed a moment to weigh the options herself and make a choice without other characters butting in. The only decision she got make on her own... was to ask Jaune to mercy kill her. I mean yea it was the only way to keep the power from going to Cinder* but still it just.... irks me. * Btw have they EVER explained how Cinder can house the power of all four maidens? I legit can't remember.

Agreed on everything you said. To answer your question at the end, it hasn’t been explained how Cinder can hold multiple Maiden powers. It seems that she’s under the belief that she can, and Salem is neither confirming or denying that it’s possible. I can see it being revealed that holding more than one Maiden power is a death sentence.

There was no reason why the power would go to Cinder actually, unless Penny keeps t hinking about her when she dies and since Penny's pretty able to control herself that's a non-issue. The maiden powers would just go to another young girl randomly in the world.

I was expecting to disagree with you strongly, because I usually disagree with rants. But I see what you're saying here and I really cared about Penny too. So sad to see her go AGAIN. And I'm glad I found someone else on KZbin who agrees with me about the writers, about CRWBY and how they handle things with the show.

Going through so much to save a character only for that character to still die. (Spoilers for The Last of Us Part 2 below) Just like Yara during Abby’s segment. You go through so much during day 2, battling Seraphites, crossing their bridges, killing infected while going down a dilapidated building and facing a complete monstrosity in the hospital to get supplies to save Yara and yet, she still dies the next day. All that hard work for nothing.

I remember that. I already wasn't digging the game, but when Yara died so soon after patching her up, I was like "Then what the hell was the point in saving her, then!?" Saving someone from death only for them to die later on is a trope not many people talk about, and they should, because of how frustrating it is.

I am mad cuase despair kept winning. Ironwood never had a heel realisation, the RWBy crew ended up in a diffrent world, Cinder won, Penny died (AGAIN!), and everyone is sperated. This is honeslty the worst ending ever. The Volume 5 ending was great cuase that gave hope, this, just THIS! Enough already. GIVE ME SOME FREAKING HOPE!!! Show me that this is not a tragedy. I know its based on fairy tales and thoose tend to end in tragedy. But I jsut dont udnerstadn why the writers wanted to tugg our heartstrings with that. They knew it would happen and honeslty it makes me mad.

I love penny but its clear how they made Penny be the maiden that she was going to die. The fact they pointed out how her dad couldnt remake her this time. The fact she couldnt give her dad a real hug. I kind of half accepted the winter powers to Ruby. That Penny tired to focus on Winter but could only think about Ruby. The fact they made Jaune kill Penny it will change him and have those issues.

I couldn't keep watching it after Monty Oum's passing. Even when he was there I felt it had glaring issues with the writing redeemed by his awesome fight scenes, and without him it just seemed like it could be nothing but a disappointment. From what I've heard since including this that seems to be the case

@@EquesTron May as well, I mean they had some nice set up for an arc about learning proper human emotions and needing to eat and sleep; stuff that would have lifted audience's spirits up from all the despair, despair and more despair. Your not going to keep your audience invested if all your doing is looking for how many ways you can sucker punch your fans. You can have dark themes without needing to shove hopelessness down the throats 24/7.

I mean, if she died two volumes or so later, then it wouldn't really be a tragedy. The tragedy is right when Penny finally becomes human, when she finally is free from her robotic shackles she has to make her first true choice to let herself die to save her friends.And I get being upset, but thematically it makes sense for it to happen this way.
