I'm trying to figure out how you are getting him to bring his hind quarters in for that slight bend, I can get the shoulder in but I can't figure out how to communicate the haunch coming in.

Start along the fence and just ask him to bring his hindquarters toward you while blocking the front. Basically it is sideways towards you along the fence. Once this is working you can then start to ask him to keep his nose and neck pointing forward to us creating the bend
