This young lady is incorrect in her description of only being 'certified' by her means of education. There are programs that allow certification and have state requirements, and board exams, just as her college education. There are no 'certification' courses that only last a week or a couple days. She doesn't make herself look good if she doesn't understand the process of becoming an equine massage therapist. There are courses that require all the testing and certification processes that can be performed on-line with 100+ hours of education, hands on requirements, exams and are accepted by the IAAMB, just as she received while in college. To bash something that she clearly does not have knowledge of is not very professional of her.

Are you speaking in the USA or Canada? I know in Canada there are some “crash” courses that aren’t the real thing. Thanks for your comment, I like to get friendly discussions going 🙂

You actually don't have to be licensed or certified to be a equine massage therapist states don't recognize it as a licensing. I went to college as a regular massage therapist and graduated and a few months later I got a job as a equine massage therapist the only thing I did was self learning on the anatomy of a horse but wasn't required

@@Bobbyx2-e5i thats what Im hoping to do as well. I have been a LMT for 10 years now and Im wanting to move into equine massage now. I will likely take a certification course, but no states require licensure for equine MTs as far as I know
