Equinox Transfer case repair how to make AWD into FWD

. I bought the 07 Equinox at the Dayton Goodwill Auto Auction as a DNR (Does Not Run) for $300 it needed a battery, back brake work and trans lines. 500 miles later the transfer case went out.. Still ran and drove Great! just a bunch of clanging noise from the front. I couldn't find new replacement gears and all 6 that i found in the junk yard were as bad or worse than mine. I also found that their was not much info out there on the Equinox transfer case removal or repair. so I thought I would share some info on it. This repair took me just over 5 hours and only cost $8. (a bottle of diff fluid) and my AWD Equinox is now FWD and still Driving!! Jeff

I have a 2012 equinox. Without pulling the transfer case I pulled the drive line, carrier bearing and pulled the output shaft, seal bearings and all. Then built a plate and gasket to seal it back up.

You said there was a need for that sleeve that the ring gear was on. What’s the purpose. Seems to me the only need for it is reinforcement on the primary shaft and fluid disbursement. Asking because I can’t get the bolts off for the ring gear and debating if I need it at all

I'm doing a head gasket job on my 05 equinox so I decided to pull this unit out and inspect, glad I did, found a bearing race with extensive damage, it was a ticking time bomb. Can you drive out the pinion with a black and hammer? I'm in the process of getting a used T-case so I want to inspect it and install new seals before I go back with it.

I just bought a 2011 equinox. It makes noise with the drive shaft on but it doesn't make noise without it. Can i drive the car without the drive shaft to Mexico? 🤔

at the end of the video, you reported "no lights", I would reasonably expect that, up until the front wheels spin, Then you would get a combo message to check ABS, Stabilitrac, traction control. But no Engine light, ever, right? After driving for some days trouble free, the computer would reset the error. Have you hade the opportunity to verify that?

My equinox don't have the shaft that you tapped out but it dose have the shaft that comes out of the trans that goes through the transfer case into the passenger side drive shaft. Did you have to remove the steering rack? On mine I can't get it out without removing it. How did you remove the t-case from the shaft?
