I hoped you enjoyed this video! Please like the video, comment your thoughts, and/or subscribe to my channel! Though the best way to help this channel grow is to spread word about my channel! ----- Notes ----- In the video, I'm describing the properties of blaster bolts and lightsabers. I mentioned how the lightsaber is a current of plasma inside an electromagnetic forcefield. This is the Legends continuity's explanation for the mechanics of lightsabers. The current Canon explanation is that the battery channels power through the crystal which creates a self contained beam of... something... Personally, I don't buy it despite it being canon. I'm still convinced that it's plasma contained within an electromagnetic force field because it's the only way it can make sense. In Legends, lightsabers could deflect blaster bolts because the force fields of each had different polarities and would bounce off each other, or this was also why lightsabers bind when made contact with one another, because the force fields are magnetic in nature and will form some kind of bond. Having a force empowered beam deflect blaster bolts "just because" doesn't cut it for me. At least those are my thoughts on the matter. What do you think of this?

I appreciate the attempt to explain sci-fi fantasy elements with actual science. Hats off good sir!

What a nice vid Lovely vid and lovely taste, the intro the outro all of it, and the explanations, I enjoyed this very much. I'm glad I came across this for my outfit research for Temple Guards.

The best explanation of the workings of a lightsaber yet! Bravo 👏

So the lightsaber containment field works like the opposite of droideka shields, it requires a minimum amount of kinetic energy to allow object to pass through and make contact with the plasma blade. This would make the the lightsaber safe to drop and also make it less lethal after it makes contact because it can stop after a strike. OMG ITS GENIUS!

I think their actual armor and helmet/masks are made out of Phrik. It would make the most sense. Phrik is lightsaber and blaster resistant, plentiful enough for all those magnaguard staffs, and if they are tough enough to handle that Sith temple's superweapon and sitting out in the elements for thousands of years, they got to be made of something tough even for that universe. Also it makes thematic sense because Beskar : Mandalorians :: Phrik : Jedi.

I've never considered the Phrik option, that's a really good insight!

This was so helpful, thank you!! Do you happen to have a link to the image in 1:31? I've been all over the Rebel Legion website and cannot find it...thank you!

That image came from the Clone Wars Concept Artist Carlos Sanchez's personal website. Unfortunately, this website appears to be taken down along with all his art. Though there is a copy of the full concept art right here: i.imgur.com/7aIRcju.jpg

It is, it's listed in the description but in chapters 5+ videos that aren't mine will have their creator in the corner of the video to ensure they're credited in a spot not easily overlooked.

The saber should have fallen through the trooper because the kinetic energy was used up and gravity took over. If I throw a chainsaw through a chest, it will continue to cut downward if the switch is held down. There is on momentary switch in a lightsaber, its a latching switch.
good question, probably because my channel is rather small and it might not get as much attention in the algorithm due to me turning off ads. I do this for the love of star wars and want my videos to be ad-free.

No, I just speak rather quickly.
@SiowsHolocron5 жыл бұрын
You might hear evidence of audio splicing with my lines every so often, this is due to two speech impediments I have. I either speak too quickly where my words jumble up or I stutter, so I'll need to edit out stutters or splice in a word I might have had trouble saying. Gotta work with you have and adapt. I still need to get around to getting these videos proper Captions...
@LeonUK5 жыл бұрын
@@SiowsHolocron I would imagine it being better without splicing, even if you make a mistake.
@SiowsHolocron5 жыл бұрын
@@LeonUK Believe me, I do MANY retakes but sometimes after doing it 20+ times for a line I keep goofing up, I'd rather splice it in and most times it's unnoticeable. Recording voice lines for video essays with 2 speech impediments can be tricky.
