As a man and a member of the Tibetan community, I want to sincerely apologize for the immense pain and violation you've experienced. What happened to you is deeply wrong and goes against the values we should uphold as a society. Your privacy and dignity were disregarded in the most harmful way, and it’s heartbreaking to see someone suffer due to the actions of another. We, as a society, need to stand together and be ashamed that such an incident could occur within our community. It's time for us men to reflect on our role in perpetuating or allowing such behavior and to commit to being better allies and protectors of the rights and dignity of women. Please know that you have my support and that many of us stand with you in solidarity. No one should ever have to endure what you’ve gone through, and we must work to ensure it never happens again.

About time we as a Tibetan society come together to address these topics instead of sweeping them under the rug. Yes, it can be uncomfortable for some to discuss it but that’s how we bring positive changes in our community. How we react and respond to Tibetan women speaking up for their rights now, sets the stage for how our younger generation will learn and grow up. By condemning and shaming the victim, you are silencing millions of other victims and encouraging the growth of future crimes against women. The perpetrators must be made accountable for their own actions so that they and others who are watching and learning don’t go on thinking that they can get away with no consequences for their actions.

This is truly sad to hear.😢 Where ever I go, I proudly say I am Tibetan and we don’t have pervert men in our society and we are pretty much open minded - (compared to our Indian Society). But sadly that’s not the truth. And it breaks my heart when girls are blamed for such horrific crimes. Kyipa la - you must file a police complaint so that all the men will be straightened out. In our society - I have seen that we always avoid going to the authorities but this must change. 😢

You’re really strong to have taken such a step and speak about it. But I’d still suggest for your case, you should pursue action under Section 66E of the Information Technology Act, 2000. The man will face up to 3 years in prison or a fine up to ₹2 lakh, or both, for violating your privacy by forwarding the video without your consent. Tibetans strength is ‘Nyinjey’ but it also turns out to be our drawbacks. I rest my case!
