Is this the same thing as saying that an atom is an atom ? If there`s more to it, I don`t get it. If the answer lies in the idea that every 8th atom in the series of The Periodic Table is equivalent, I still don`t get the significance when it comes to maths.

Hi.This set R is a relation on set X. Where X contain 1,2,3,4,5,6 as it's etements. Note: here R is a equivalence relation.

The equivalence relation he provided was just an example of one. There are many equivalence relations you can make with that specific set.

I think because he is writing equivalnce classes frm the elements given in equivalnce relationsh set..not from X x Y which include every elemnt...the one you are talking about also..we need to write classes from the equivalnce relationsh set not from Cartesian product of. X and Y

I hate discreet math so much. I am convinced you could go in a jungle and pick 3 random chimps and they would understand the concepts taught. The only difficulty is understanding the notation for everything. I hate that I am forced to pick this course in my software engineering University program. I would've had a better time doing Calculus 4 instead of taking it during summer. A real shame...
