1:25 that's partly true. The thing ist that if you feel extreme pain it's harder to breath cuz of the muscular tension building to protect for example another punch. If so you get less air and the sounds your voice makes is compressed air. Deeper sounds move more air. So if you got less air your voice might be a little higher than usual. BUT only til the pain ends.

I had a stroke 7 years ago when I was 31 (from birth control pills), and I was so grateful not have any of the symptoms that Peter had in the episode. The only deficit was that my left hand and arm as well as left cheek and left thigh were numb. The feeling came back a few months later. All of these years later, I only have a little bit of my left palm that is still numb. But other than that, I got very lucky. The episode where Peter had a stroke was hilarious! 😝 That being said, I wish that there was more awareness about stroke and birth control pills and understanding this particular side effect can happen to anyone at any age at any time as well as some education on how long one should be on birth control pills (I was on them for 10 years), other birth control options such as IUDs (I use the LadyComp, which is the best thing I found for birth control as I’m still in PTSD from my stroke, so I don’t want to put any kind of hormones in my body, and the LadyComp is just as effective as the pill), etc. So this would be a topic that I would recommend for one of your shows. I love your channel 😃

@Dr_ER Dr Wagner, I'm now 45. 3 years ago, I suffered a small stroke to the right side of my brain. Lost all feeling and control of just my left hand (thankfully, I'm right handed). Just woke up one morning and thought I had slept on my arm all night. This has happened before. When my hand didn't 'wake up', I called the ems services. With time and therapy, (and a major change in my diet), I recovered about 85% of the function. And then my gf dumped me, telling the neighbors that she didn't want to take care of a cripple!!! Utterly unbelievable and ironic considering that SHE was the one confined to a wheelchair with spina bifida and chiari (sp?). Please let your viewers know that it is not cool to abandon someone with issues like that. Thank you Dr Wagner, Regards, Judson

I love the talk about strokes and mention of expressive aphasias. As a grad student studying speech language pathology and helping with research of aphasia, I am learning about all of the aphasias so it is fun to hear one branch of aphasias mentioned! Yes, for those who don’t know expressive aphasia is often referred to as fluent aphasia which could either be Wernicke’s, transcortical sensory, conduction, or anomic. There’s also disfluent aphasias as well! To improve comprehension or fluency you often are referred to SLPs!

I had my license revoked for having a seizure while driving. I had epilepsy for years, seizures every 2 weeks because of stress. So in Canada you can get a license and keep it even if you have regular seizures, as long as you don't have a seizure while driving. You can even be approved to drive 18-wheelers if you can sense your seizures coming in enough time to pull over and shut off the truck. I know this because my dad's friend's son has epilepsy as bad as mine, and still has seizures and works driving transport trucks across the province. He has an aura (a warning sign) 5-10 minutes or more before a seizure tho, and any signs I have happen only a few seconds before if any. My husband has intense irritability up to 24 hours before a seizure, but his narcolepsy is what stops him from driving and not his epilepsy.
@alexanderjefferies77402 жыл бұрын
Nice to hear from a fellow epileptic. I used to have severe autonomic seizures as a kid but they’ve reduced in severity as I’ve grown. I got my epilepsy diagnosis in 2017 and couldn’t drive for 4 years due to my seizures. My seizures now last only about 15 seconds and I have no after effects. I get an aura pretty much immediately at the onset of one but know the warning signs in case I do get one. I just have a very active brain that sometimes gets a little carried away. The annoying thing is my seizures are so mild that when I do get one I still can’t drive for 6 months (I am on medication and that’s the waiting time in New Zealand) no matter how mild. Had one about a month ago so have to wait until October. I have had 7 seizures in the past 4 years but used to have at least 2 per week when I was about 10. Personally, I feel I am blessed to have a brain that has more than likely made me as creative as I am (I am an honours classical pianist at University) and given their very mild nature and overall preventability through stress reduction and meditation (which I didn’t do leading up to last month’s seizure), I consider myself one of the very lucky ones with epilepsy because I know it could be much much worse. I do consider myself very lucky in the 5 months I got to drive leading up to the seizure that I never had one while driving. I can’t imagine what it’s like, but it’s good to hear that it doesn’t seem to have affected you.
@BlazeNStar2 жыл бұрын
@@alexanderjefferies7740 I'm glad you're doing so well! When I had a seizure while driving, I was thankfully in one of the lowest speed areas of town, but I did hit a parked car. My car folded like paper so it was wrecked, but I just sprained one of my ankles pretty badly no one else was hurt and I wasn't sued for the damage to the other car. So things worked out as good as a car crash on a public street could go.

I saw this show yesterday about this nasty drug in Eastern Europe called Krokadil. It was literally melting people. I'm not a squeamish person, but holy sheeeit; there was one lady that had no flesh remaining on her forearm. It was just the two bones left. It was the second most disgusting thing I have ever seen. The bandages were fusing to them just like that couch episode, and bits of them would peel off every time the nurses changed them. After watching that, I was relieved to have a new fun video to come watch here. Doctor Wagner to the rescue!
