Scène d'une rare puissance émotionnelle. Superbe et le regard de Clooney. Musique nostalgique très belle " uniquement " pour le couple Doug/Carol

These first episodes i always felt bad for Doug, he was just like someone who cares a lot about things, especially Carol, but wasn't able to show that properly and ended up screwing up everytime, I never felt like he was a jerk or something like that, He just couldn't deal with his feelings and confussions and honestly...how on Earth you approach an ex who you see everyday and work who just attemped suicide? And how do you treat them afterwards? Tough.

That's a later episode -- this is the first episode after the pilot. Doug gets told by Mark to go visit her, and admits to him that he hasn't gone yet. He finally does so here, and can't spit out his feelings. Essentially, his actions here defined the rest of the season -- had he actually been truthful with her, the whole Tag situation might never have happened.

I hate how American culture glorifies emotionally unavailable and commitment-phobic men who can’t communicate properly to give a woman emotional security. Doesn’t matter how handsome you are if you don’t show up for another human you are not a man, just a child.

And same goes with women. You're not woman enough to be there for your man then are you a woman or just a little girl? (Ps. I'm a woman by the way☺) Respect🌼

Is it really glorification though? Doug was presented throughout the first season as a deeply troubled man with major issues (actually, most of the characters on ER were presented as deeply troubled). The fact is, it's more dramatic to have dark, emotionally scared characters as your leads - that's what viewers want to see. It makes for more interesting TV.

You didnt watch the show didnt you? Doug was shown to have deep relationship issues but he wasnt void of emotion (literally was shown that abuse of kids would literally set him off) , and lets not act like Carol was any better than him

I don’t care what everyone says, Doug was an ass to Carol. I never understand how a woman can allow man like that in their lives. Any man who cannot be there for a woman he says he cares about is no man in my book.

Carol treated her fiance Tag the same way. She admitted to cheating on him with Doug, abused his trust in her, and would have done it again (in Sleepless In Chicago) if Doug hadn't turned her down. It's not like she was morally superior in this situation. And Doug was there for her in pretty much all the time after this (trying to adopt Tatiana, her failed wedding, considering med school, etc).

Doug was definitely immature in how he tried to win Carol over. But he mellowed out and was still there for her through thick and thin until they got together.

I guess it may just be me, because I didn’t ever feel that they had good on-screen chemistry together. When he smiled at her, I didn’t see that smile ‘light up’ his eyes. When I see him just talk about his wife in real life, that twinkle is there with his smile.
