Eradicator can take on “hosts” kinda like Venom, there is a precedent for possession by Eradicator. He tried to indoctrinate Clark into becoming more like a Kryptonian, tried to take over Clark’s corpse, absorbed a dying scientist, possessed Doomsday and in an alternate universe Lois became it’s host.

Early Vegeta vs Goku. Both Superman and Goku identify with Earth, and have no wish to continue the legacy of a dead planet. So they have to die if the lost planet is to be resurrected. No false idols. Goku would be a false idol to the *Saiyans just as Superman would to the Kryptonians.
