I kind of was expecting Kenya or Saturo's mom to reveal that they were in the timeline. It's almost like they knew what was going on, especially Kenya.

I literally just finished Erased a couple days ago, so both this video and Part 1 were quite intriguing to watch! I was initially confused by Yashiro's motivations, but you cleared that up really well. Thanks for that, and great video overall! :)
@gracetaylor96663 жыл бұрын
This video is fantastic. It explained so much that was unfortunately left out of the anime which would have added so much more to deepen the plot. Your analysis on Yashiro was incredible. Its interesting to hear about the side of the villain that explains why they are the way they are. People often forget that their is such a monumental backstory to how Yashiro came to be and all the idealisms that drive his character. I especially appreciated the explanation you gave on the spider web story. When watching the anime I was upset and felt unfulfilled of the sheer potential the annedote would have had on the story, helping to really push specific themes as well as characters. The way you explained it made so much sense and definentley gave me a better grasp on the point of the string. I agree with you the way the anime ended. I often hear about how upset other viewers are that Satorou and Kayo didn't end up together, saying "Oh when your girl cant stay loyal but your mortal enemy can" and honestly it kind of annoys me. By saying this your being completely ignorant to the main ideas and themes the anime are trying drive home about finding yourself, courage, and sometimes having to sacrifice yourself for the good of others. Point is, sometimes doing the right thing is a double edged sword, as events may not turn out in your favor. For example, how Satorou put so much effort into saving the whole town and childhood friends, (as well as himself) from the grief and despair of the tragedies of the abductions, he still end up in a comma and looses 15 years of his life. Though in the end, it was the right thing to do. This anime is NOT in any way supposed to be focused on the romance between Kayo and Satorou, and this is where many people go wrong. Satorou sacrificed so much so that she could leave her abusive household and not get murdured, not for a relationship.Though its difficult and he ends up putting himself in danger, he cant stop himself from wanting to be the hero nonetheless. I also kind of hope that their is no second season because I would be worried that added concepts would only disrupt the original themes of the anime. It ended with Satorou's manga career going steadily where he is finally able to accept and dig deep within himself, no longer having the childhood trauma clouding his consciousness. By reuniting with Airi in the final seen, it signifies the growth he has experienced over the story. It began by him being too closed off and socially incapable of having any interest in a romantic/platonic relationship with her. Now though after reforming his past and removing the weights his childhood gave him, he is finally able to open and let others into his life (aka Airi). Its absolutely beautiful the way it was written. Even though Satorou is an adult, he experiences an incredible coming of age story that allowed him to finally experience and get over the repressed feeling he had never grown out of. I also like the almost uncertainty the anime left off on. The reader is left to kind of infer what course Satorou's life will take after resolving his past, as the baseline for a more emotionally involved and overall happy life takes shape as seen in the final scene. Amazing. Also cant forget about the absolute bop the op was, as well as the imagery that allowed the viewer to understand the feeling of desperation and angst (idk) satorou felt in wanting to change his past. I couldn't stop watching the anime and enjoyed every single scene. Anyways Im probably being too analytical but this is just what makes sense to me! One more point sorry: The villain and hero dynamic between Yashiro and Satorou reminds me so much of Light and L from deathnote, even down to the mf colors that described them. They needed the complexity of eachother's logic and both found a sense of worth through battling in mind games with the other. I love this kind of physiological warfare. Erased definitely gains one of my spots of top animes. once again amazing analysis, I really enjoyed watching it. You deserve wayyyy more views. Also sorry this was so long, I just needed to get some of my thoughts written down :)

Wow. Thank you so much for commenting your thoughts! This is incredible, I really really enjoyed reading this, you make some great points of the potential of Yashiro's backstory, I guess we'll find out if there is a season 2, but yes I I don't know if it is worth the risk, your point about the hero and villain dynamic is explained so well, I'm actually working on a video essay for Death Note, so this relates so well. Yes, they needed each other to best one another, I just love the concept of psychological warfare between two Titan of characters. I just really appreciate you taking your time in writing all of this, thank you once again. I finished this anime a couple of nights ago and I can't stop thinking about it. It has been a while where I felt completely and thoroughly satisfied with the ending of an anime. This is just such a well done show and it deserves so much more attention. I personally didn't have a problem with Kayo and Satoru not ending up together. I think it was implied that they might end up together but I personally never anticipated it. I think they wrapped it up so well with Satoru and Airi meeting again at the end of the episode. Loved every second of this anime!

I appreciate your kind words, thank you so so much. And yes, there a few that I would personally recommend: Death Note is a classic one, does not involve any time travel but shares the same genre in psychological thriller and crime, must watch! Anohana and the Flower We Saw That Day: this is nothing like Erased, but the only thing that reminds me of it is the children's friendship with one another, this is the main plotline of this anime. Tokyo Ghoul is another one I really really loved! And of course I can't miss out Attack on Titan ... I mean come on 🤣 (Full Series Review? 🤔)

Quite a few people ask this, I honestly feel like there is no need for a season 2. The anime wrapped up so perfectly and beautifully, I really don't think they could have done a better job with it, yes it was only 12 episodes, but I personally believe that I probably will not experience something like special like that maybe ever again or at least anytime soon. If they do make a season 2, sure I'll watch it, but I don't know what else they could do. Anyways, that's what I think, thank you for watching! My Instagram: @thisiszohair_yt

The either make a new story with Yashiro turning good and becoming a detective cause all he wants to do is have fun and explore revival cause it literally makes no sense why it exists also there’s a story called re; which is the 15 years during the coma

I want to understand more about the spider thread above Yashiro's head. If the spider thread symbolizes the turmoil and negativity in someone's life why was the snapping of Yashiro's thread a positive? He felt the need to kill people who he imagined having a thread over their head but his is then snapped. I'm not sure what that means.
@miaashford96252 жыл бұрын
It's actually quite simple. Yashiro had this motivation to kill everyone who had spider threads up on their heads. Town to town, he did this for years. And someone's spider thread snapping visualises an ending. Just like the man climbing up from hell, when the thread snaps, you are lost. Finished. And Yashiro, who had been looking for excitement in his life through Satoru, finally sees his own spider thread on his head and experiences the snapping. He's lost, finished. And that is not a bad thing for him. He's finally happy that it's all over, perhaps. Perhaps he likes to feel that sense of closure. And it's not told in the anime, bot Yashiro tells on every single murder he has committed. He could just get out with attempted murder, but he tells the authorities about the serial killer business he had done for years. Even though that would give him a life sentence. So yeah, that's why it's positive in Yashiro's point of view.

I dont get why if he is 29 at the end he ends up with Arii (who is still in HS and probably 17 ) and blushing over her???? Can someone explain this???
@piggybankvillan4 жыл бұрын
The older Satoru timeline is set in 2006, and he was 29 initially and also when he woke up from the coma, but then it fast forwards another 4 years (as shown by the radio mentioning the 2010 Olympics), showing Satoru as a successful manga artist. Airi was 17 when we first met her as a delivery driver, so assuming she was the same age when Satoru awoke from the coma, 4 years later would put her at 21 and Satoru would be 33. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the age dynamics are a bit different in Japan than say the US or UK. That age gap would probably be considered weird here in the the States.
