I was in Jr high school when this came out. My best friend and I loved erasure. That was back when car stereos we starting to be loud with a lot of base. One of our friends was in high school and had a nice ride with a really nice stereo. We would drive around town blasting erasure. The base hits so hard and clean. Mind you we were all straight men but we embraced the music and the meaning behind it. My best friends brother was gay and in his late 20’s. His father was not as accepting of it but his mother was. I remember his mother telling his father that if he didn’t buy his son a new car like he did for the rest of the kids she would divorce him. Haha. Good for her. My best friend lost his brother to cancer and recently lost my best friend ti alcoholism. I can’t listen to an erasure song without thinking about the wonderful times spent with my best friend. Like one other comment here saying that he gets chocked up when he hears this song and what it means. I get the same way. I have so many emotions around this song especially now with the all memories. There is a conscious shift going on it the world as we evolve and the internet is progressing it along at an even faster rate. I am excited for future generations and I fell very fortunate to have grown up in the 80’s and 90’s where the shit really started to take place, and I commend those that pioneered the shift back then and still do today. I have a little boy and everyday he gets hugs and cuddles and kisses from me and gets told he is beautiful and that he’s loved a million times a day by me. He will be loved and accepted and will never Be afraid.

A really brilliant uplifting remix of such a powerful song that captures the fear of, or actual rejection of the love of those closest to us for simply saying who we really are. That we are sexually attracted to and love those of the same gender. It’s the first time I have heard this song in at least 20 years and it made me cry. My parents who are sadly no longer with me were shocked at first but supported and loved me as a 15 year old boy and beyond. I’m massively grateful to Erasure for helping me through the discovery and expression of my sexuality - something the educational system at the time and even occasionally now could learn from. My best friend came out to me years ago. Guess what it didn't matter I still love him like a brother. Today would be his first love(boyfriend)'s birthday. Sadly he passed and I still support my friend. Even us straight guys have love in our hearts♥️
