Couldn't help chuckling a bit at your 5-gallon one-way trip and being somewhat envious at the same time. I've flown a Cessna 421B for a lot of years, and I'm pretty sure I burn 5 gallons just getting both engines started. :-)

James thank you for letting me join you on this flight ... Vicariously enjoying the whole flight ... Love your Aerocoupe, one sweet flying machine. Hope you know I'm green with envy... Love it! We're going for 104° here in Phoenix this morning... It looked cooler there ... Tahoe is one big body of water .. enjoy your day today ... I sent your video to my younger brother in NY to enjoy the flight as well... Take care Jim ... Ed in Phoenix writes

Glad you enjoyed it, Ed. Yes, it was cool enough to warrant closing the canopy on the way over.

That's mesmerising James and the 'coupe shines up a treat, what a nice aircraft. Presume you've got the decoupled rudder set up? Any vids on the purchasing/restoration journey?
@JamesGood6 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve. Thanks for the comment! Yes, I have rudder pedals. Sadly, I have very little info on the restoration. It was done by a gentleman in Washington state, in 1999. I'm trying to find more info, I want to know more.

Such a nice little classic, especially with the all metal wing covering , that looks the nutz! Mind you , you're in the right country / region to help keep it looking nice. Not like back in Blighty ;-)

One of these days, I may just have to take a couple weeks off and fly my Ercoupe out there just to see this view from the air.

That'd be cool, Joey. The fall is a great time. :)

Breathtakingly beautiful. Makes me long for my old Ercoupe. 3 things. Beautiful job on the restoration, excellent job on the editing. the third thing is a little concerning. why would the FAA allow someone to put up a radio tower that close to the runway in Nevada County. When I saw that I couldn't believe it! it might just be the camera angle but I swear it looks higher than the glide slope! Looks dangerous.
@JamesGood6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the nice comments, Joe. As for the tower, I think it looks a lot worse due to the wide angle GoPro lens, than it really is in real life. The GoPro definitely makes many things look different.

James, your Ercoupe is really a beautiful aircraft. Was it originally a fabric covered wing? Really looks wonderful in the high polish you have done. I really enjoy your channel very much. Thanks for sharing.
@JamesGood6 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt. Thanks for the comment. Yes, it was originally fabric wings (about 40 lbs lighter), converted to metal in the late 60's.

What engine do you have in the Ercoupe? I would not think it would be enough for SLT but obviously it is. Mine has the continental C85

I have an O-200, and a climb prop (46" pitch). Cruise speed tops out about 90mph indicated, but climb is OK. I wouldn't do this trip with two on board until the DA drops a lot more...

Considering that camera mount for my Ercoupe. Have you had any issues with it holding strong in winds?
@JamesGood6 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe. No, I've not had any problems at speed (and the 90mph wind I'm generating then!). Seems to hold well.
