This is one of my favorites! Their original wheat beer is amazing too, that's what I can usually find where I am in B.C.

Same here! Normally their Hefe-Weizen is what I can find regularly and every once and a while the Dunkel will pop up. So happy we got to try it and review it.

I've tried this once... SO good. They don't distribute their beers well enough.

Dunkel are my favorite. I have tried dunkel from Erdinger, Hofbrau, Weihenstephaner, Julius Echter (Wurzburger) and Ayinger. Ayinger has two dunkel I've tried. The Altbairisch which is a Munich dunkel. And the Ur-weisse, which is at the moment my favorite wheat beer. It's a bit strange in the sense it has a lighter appearance and the flavor (not body) isn't as dark as expected, but it has a very strong overripe roasted banana flavor. I thought their Brau-weisse was my favorite, but the Ur-weisse take it up a notch.

Strange how the Pikantus smoked this in my opinion, and the Urweisse smokes the Regular Erdinger Weisse beer. Would love to see a review of Schlenkerla weizen green top or marzen yellow top! 🍻

Weihnstepherner Dunkel is my favorite, Erdinger is a close second. But that's only my taste. I love it all

These come in cans now. I don't remember what the bottle version was like, but the cans version have a lot of carbonation and good mouth feel. Pretty good natural sweetness being balanced with the hops. When I started off I always preferred bottles, but I am leaning a lot more over to cans now. I think Weihenstephaner version is a bit better. The thing with Erdinger is they stay on the safe side and never try to be too bold, so it's more on the mild side, it's hard to pick one thing that really stand out.

That’s so interesting, with the rise of can conditioning a lot of these types of beers are offering them in that format as well. I wonder if the canned version is the same abv as bottled. With other conditioned beers like Sierra Nevada pale ale for example, the can conditioned version is slightly lower in %

Love this Dunkel . Some other recent reviews state it is poor and just ordinary at best . I’ve bought two cases recently and find it superb .

I know, a lot of people criticize this Dunkel but I think they’re overlooking a lot of subtle qualities that make it very unique and a fantastic drinking experience. The intense carbonation and character that comes from the bottle fermentation, the high drinkability, etc.
