Some info on Elif Şafak (Shafak in international market) She was never imprisoned or penalized in Turkey. She's the daughter of a diplomatic staff, brought up in international schools outside Turkey. Many Turks find her out of touch. She supported 'mildly islamist' AKP (while secular Kemalists warned) until around 2014. She was married to the prominent Gulenist journalist Eyüp Can Sağlık. She carefully plans her work with the hot agenda of the time, Armenian Genocide, Mevlana (Rumi), and now Women's Rights in Turkey. She has never been actively involved in these movements putting herself exposed to any risk. She just doesn't deserve this attention just for being a pretty English speaking woman.

All these, even if 100% true, do not change the message she is voicing. The number of femicites, how Turkey turned into a dictator ship and how Erdogan is trying to revive the ottoman empire with belligerence, aggression and violence.

Stop promoting yourself Elif as a feminist and speaking on our behalf especially because we all know that you are not a feminist. You supported Erdoğan’s regime so heartily as your Gülenist organization did until 2016 when your guys tried to stage a coup. And these people listening to her and believing or pitying women in Turkey, please be aware that she is a professional liar and has never had any affiliation or sympathy towards women’s movement. I really feel upset that she has recently started speaking on behalf of feminists. Nobody, I repeat, nobody in the entite country likes her and it is definitely not a Rushdie case. She has no ideology, she just pretends to have one every five years or so.

She lives in London. She rarely goes to Turkey. Why does she act like she lives in Turkey. Besides she is always against Turkish values, culture, indeed, everything about Turkey. Even seculars in Turkey don't like her. Because she acknowledges some so-called massacres. In other words, a Turk does not speak there. The speaking is a British.
