the most unique thing about the episode is that it combines a coming of age tale with a... dying of age tale

best comment ever. sexiful isn't a word but it should now be one. Raiken is king. It describes her perfectly. She's got my vote for being very sexiful.

San Junipero has been my favourite episode so far (only got as far as the robot bees when life got in the way!) and it was SO different to the others. I kept expecting the same kind of ending as all the other episodes, so to have one that ended like this made me enjoy it so much more. The concept was really cool too, I think - I know I'd love to relive old decades!

Some people are born as Charlie. But there is one man who is more Charlie than the rest of them. He is Charlier. At some point he may become Charliest.

I still think it was tragic. People being reduced to lines of code, just another cog in a huge money making machine. You give people infinity, drive them mad with it, then they pull the plug on themselves. Another free slot for another dead person. Maybe I watched it the wrong way.

Or maybe you're right... But I don't think it's tragic, I think it's magic. Just think about the choices... there's a zero or being reduced to lines of code... Who freakin' cares... As Philip K. Dick taught us “Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away" and since San Junipero will never go away, it's real. And just think... You can live forever, your beloved relatives will live forever and everybody can choose when! Of course I'll choose the '80s... Where I have to sign? And I can imagine a family that all together can go for some hours in San Junipero to let the children meet their grand-parents, great-grand-parents and uncles... and they are still young and happy... Oh wouldn't it be nice to know that you don't have to say farewell to somebody you need in your life...

1. Is that any worse than just fading away permanently. Surely, that would be the alternative. 2. Also, who says that monetary exchange will still be "a thing" in this future? (Note that the character getting a buzz out of putting a coin in the arcade machine, like she's never done it before). For technology to progresses to the extent required to make something like San Junipero even possible, then getting to stay there for an eternity may well be something completely trivial, like a store reward card or air miles! If the ability to quickly transfer and store someone's entire consciousness and memory in something the size of a button becomes a thing then it'd likely be just as easy to produce at scale as a common USB memory stick. 3. Rather than tragic, if anything, technology like this could actually completely remove the tragedy of watching those around us slowly get ill and die along with the knowledge that it will happen to us too. It would totally remove one of the most prominent negative aspects that separate us from animals.. The knowing that we will one day die and the fear of that. Isn't San Junipero the same comfort that religion has traditionally provided people with for aeons without any hard evidence of whether the promise heaven is actually real or not? If a religious heaven is real, then do people who end up there get driven mad with infinity also? San Junipero would merely be delivering on the promise that religion had previously hinted at. If someone chose to opt out and try the "real heaven" then that'd be up to them.

It was beautiful yet there were, of course, some tragic aspects as there always are. You’re not wrong, craft makes different people feel different emotions.

@@spiritusinfinitus heaven is real, thats why this simulated reality called San juniper is flawed. Why would you explore a town when you can explore the world?
@SuperSimmerGal
@SuperSimmerGal 5 жыл бұрын
@@MisterSolitude What's to say you CAN'T explore the world in San Junipero? Even Charlie has said that there are probably simulated versions of Paris, London, NYC, etc. within that world and you even see a plane flying overhead near the end.
