What’s important is to peep the years in which these tracks were made….this is ‘88….lyrically ahead of a lot of material that came out after.

True. Most of the current stars are talented enough to jump back into this particular genre of hip hop. I would be cool to hear them venture into this sort of thing on a track or two.

Every Rakim rhyme is a 10 out of 10. The man changed the way Emcees rapped. He ended careers in the 80s and created new emcees for the 90s and beyond.
@theDavidChannel1 Жыл бұрын
Rakim singlehandedly changed the way people rapped. Before he came along everyone was just screaming into the mic with simple rhyme flows. Rakim raised the bar, literally. He is arguably the greatest rapper of all time. These are 35 year old raps and still dope AF and better than most.

Rakim, for those who haven't noticed, was the only MC that did all his records with no features from other rappers, all his songs, he is on the whole record by himself. Now he did features on other records, but no one featured on his, that shows his catalog of lyrice is extensive.

if you think about this song was made in about 1987-1988. So it’s about 35 years old. Hip Hop Music in its current state (two turntables and mic) hit 50 years in 2023. If you just start at 1979 (the year of the first record on wax) and go to 2000. You’d have 21 years worth of music to react to. Try Rakim’s “Causality if War” it was made in 1992. An interesting thing about the song is that one can make the case that Rakim predicts the 9/11 attacks that takes place 9 years later. So you can add Prophet to the God MC as well.

If you put that joint in comparison of what was out at the time, it's a 10 of 10. "I was a fiend, before I became a teen I melted Microphones instead of cones of Ice Cream. Music Orientated so when Hip-Hop was CREATED, Fitted like Pieces of Puzzles...... COMPLICATED" There is NO Opening verse of ANY song that epitomizes of what being an Emcee is more than that.
