just for the record..that was the club remix version made by the british DJ Team "Coldcut" and therefore is not the "Original version of Eric B&Rakim´s Paid in full" Those had that brilliant idea to mix "Patd in full" with the song "In min alu" from the israeli singer Ofrah Haza which was also a huge dance hit in Europe round about a year before Paid in full came out....and bits of James Brown´s "Hot pants" and some other stuff. And because so many say that the beat was then sampled by Tupac ..Well that iconic beat is way older than the song "Paid in full" made in 87...Eric B&Rakim also just sampled that beat from the way older song "Don´t look any further" by Dennis Edwards ft. Siedah Garrett made in 84....just saying

Rakim..The Godfather of Flow. Yes this was around 87. Also a remix of the original but definitely gives it a little flavor and made it easier to dance to. Ofra Haza was the Israeli (she died very young). It's a groove no matter which version. While I don't think the requester is saying it's better hip hop, it's different, and close to the founding of hip hop. You gotta know you're history.
