Kickboxer 2 is as good as the original film. Not cheesy. Dark and warm. Great music as well as dialogues. Generally one of the most underrated films ever with great actors in it like Peter Boyle.

I think it was better :-) The overall atmosphere and the feel of it + soundtrack was amazing and I just think Sasha Mitchell with his kickboxing experience was a better fit for a kickboxer movie. But that's just me ..... not saying that the first one with Van Damme was bad-it was great, but to me 2nd is best !

There is NO studio version of this because there never was a KB2's soundtrack release. But when Albert Pyun recently announced his plans for a KB2 remake (!), he also said that he wants to release it with a soundtrack including the songs of the original.

Phoenix Really!? That is pretty cool! Regardless of the way the companies made the B budget movies with Mitchell they were actually good stories with bad delivery. But in the 4th movie Mitchell looked pissed! And even more so I saw that David Spade movie Dickey Roberts and Mitchell was fucking jacked up roid looking style! And this was how many years ago! Thanks for acknowldging the remake I hope it's worth the anticipation!

Jamie Moll The Kickboxer movies after the first one were so bad they were good but over time they have become better. I love the movies now. I am looking forward to the remake and I don't even approve of the remakes. The fact Sasha is in it makes me want to check it out.

I actually got Kickboxer 1 - 5 on DVD. I love them all in their own little way. But to tell you the truth; don't hate me; I kind of like Kickboxer 2: The Road Back (this) the best. I love the first film but its too serious. This is cheesy but so entertaining to watch that I watch over and over again. I love Sasha Mitchel as David Sloan and plus you got the original Tong Po in it - plus a decent soundtrack. Its a pretty good movie in a B-movie sense. Anyway, Kickboxer 1 - 5 is so much better than that new Kickboxer: Vengeance shit. That's just idiotic and it insulted my intelligence watching it. The worst in the series and ill never watch it again!

In my opinion, if you are a big fan of the original Kickboxer movie then you probably dislike the remake as its just a plain insult on the original. Story-line is the same but with minor changes. Very idiotic and unrealistic. Bad acting (making the acting in the original look Oscar worthy). Characters seem empty and pointless. Just mindless violence and fight sequences. But if you like that regardless of a movie having a good, indulging story, then you may enjoy this reboot (yes, reboot - not remake. Its a retelling of the story with minor changes, etc). Movie seems to cater for MMA fans than Muay Thai fans as there is hardly anything Muay Thai in this. The only thing making this about Kickboxing is the is the fact its a reboot. The only decent thing about this movie is the fight choreography and cinematography. Thats it, in my opinion. I waited years to see the film. Watched it once - got bored, as I felt my IQ dropping upon screening and could not wait for it to end - and will never watch it again. Van Damme calls this Kickboxer: Vengeance = Kickboxer 2 since he was not in the other sequels. So he basically wants to forget the other sequels existed. In my opinion, I want to forget that this installment ever existed and keep the original movie and its sequels in existence.

Wanting to turn the film off but soldiering on the the very end just because we waited so long for a new kickboxer movie to come out. And we got that garbage. The second new film wasn't as bad as the first but still has nothing on the original series :)
