While Eric Burdon has had some amount of hits and success over the years, I think he is much much bigger in the musical book than what he is actually remembered or credited for. Huge. The Animals were better musicians than most any groups of the 60's. The bass in Monterey is nothing short of spectacular. I am a fan. Long Live EB.

Maybe because I am old, but I don't think there will ever be a music revolution like what occurred in the 60's, ever again. No music will ever equal it. When I got home from the service, I went a little wild, celebrating not being dead and coming home with all my appendages. The music of this era was my freedom, and I still crank it up on the 'real' stereo often...LP's and reel to reel...analog fidelity.

Clint Wilde I .commend you for your service at that war and the music that came out in the 60s was it the war that ceated the music of the 60s or was a protest that stated this once in a life time turn it up louder you sure have the equipment to do so keep on rocking brother

This music is the best it will never get old, my son loves it and I know some of his friends like it too 🎶🎸 those were the days you would by a vinyl album and listen to it all the way through unlike todays music which just fades away into obscurity

Eric Burden is one of the most underrated vocalists of the Rock Era - but boy did he and the Animals leave some classics for eternity. The South Vietnamese Government eventually refused to allow Armed Forces Radio to play "We Gotta Get Outta This Place" that was played as an anthem at US Fire-bases during the Vietnam War. Then Sky Pilot; a timeless protest song of young men going off to die in war.

I got to witness Eric and his band play this song at the Cow Palace, I believe, in 1968. (It was a week after the Who's debut on the Smothers Brothers show -- they were there, too.) Even then, they had some kind of device so the guitarist could emulate the "Hugh Masakela trumpet" line. Eric was dancing in the midst of strobe lights. Great concert, and always one of my favorite rock singers.

I think that maybe I'm dreaming, here in 2020. Oh what times to be part of ~ 53 years ago ! When the music & consciousness was exploding out of the old, tired ways of everything. Thanks to Eric Burdon & his Animals for this great classic !

Yeah Eric was into the California hippie scene for a couple of years but at heart he was always an R& B/ Soul man. When psychedelia waned and EB & TA broke up in 1969 he discovered another great band WAR who (after Eric left in 1971) would later became a success story in their own right.

RedPantherMuso, your comment is flawless!!!!! Most listeners would not even realize what they are experiencing here. I think that Eric Burdon is to be commended for his contribution to music. When they come out of the mid guitar solo with the "3 days of understanding"; well, that bass player does that run.......Absolutely fantastic track!!!!! Tangerine Sequel...THANKS. THIS IS PRICELESS!

Absolutely fantastic track!!!!!! The whole concept is pure Burdon, and the execution is pure Animals. Fabulous bass, guitars, and overall production. Unknown to most people - but this is the best of its kind. Never mind the hazy video - just be thankful you have something to see the way this was done!! Tell your mates....this is music with soul.

Just learned Vic Briggs (elec sitar here) died 4 months ago. He was an awesome guitarist, especially on this tune-full tour de force. That bass is infuckingcredible & the whole song is so cool I can still hardly believe it's from 67. Burdon never knew how good he had it when Briggs was at the helm. Thanks for the video & cheers from the Delta.

My favorite song from 1967 and 1968,. It is the best song the Animals ever did, by quite a bit! Today it sounds better than it did back then. Better than almost all of the music around that time. I was angry when they stopped playing it on the radio!

Those "New Animals" were so versatile, and professional. As Vic Briggs is playing that fluid lead solo, Danny McCulloch's Throbbing Bass plays solo too, amazing music from 1967. Enjoy.

Great song! The Animals really defined the 60's along with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, etc. Eric Burdon is amazing! I've never heard a voice as brilliant as his. It's so hypnotic its like puts you under his spell. and to top it off he was a good looking guy ;) He looks like that sexy bad boy type. But Eric seems humble from interviews. I think he said he was "ugly" He's certainly not and he's got the best voice! this songs just plain amazing :3
