He was massively overrated.

Eh the John MAYALL period and the Cream period, no not overrated. He was an innovator in hard rock and no one sounded/played blues like he did on the Blues breakers album. That is not overrated, that blues breaker album is actually underrated. When it comes to his pop stuff yeah it's overrated, but it's not all terrible. Clapton has a lot of songs that aren't good I agree and the songs are overrated, but he is not. He even said he thinks some of his stuff isn't good. He has a lot of really good stuff and you have to dig for it.
