Stunning performance from Eric Clapton, singing the Otis Rush song Double Trouble. This is from British television in 1977

Awful version of this song. Listen to John Mayall do this song. The racist Clapton talking about can’t get a job gimme a break. He’s worth well over 500 million dollars! Not bad for an out and out RACIST ! For those of you that don’t know what I’m talking about, look it up please.

Most Clapton fans know exactly what you're talking about and know how wrong you still are. A drunk, high outburst doesn't make someone racist. Racism is how you treat people and when B.B. King says that on his death bed he'll be glad he got to call you a friend I think you're probably doing alright as far as that goes.

So some famous rock star makes a drunken speech in 1976. So what?! Aren't we lucky to someone perfect like you to be everyone's conscience. I don't care what he said.

@dayleclarke4433 we all make mistakes and I'm sure there's been a time in everyone's life where we've said or done something we would now be ashamed of. But we live in a redemptive society and eric has more than redeemed himself.

@@dayleclarke4433 Clapton has apologized for these remarks, which he made during the darkest period of his life. That is why the great African-American blues masters stood by him. They knew the MAN, not the image.

I agree with 1977 Clapton. I love the blues, but hardly ever listen to black musicians playing it. I play white musicians performing blues numbers. Hendrix and John Lee Hooker are practically the only African bluesmen I listen to. England is a small nation and doesn't have room for African breeders filling up their island with mulatto babies.
