This man is way too underrated. He has phenomenal talent. Im not sure what is wrong with todays youth. Im always going to be open to any form of music that someone can connect with but today there are so many terrible watered down "artists" that depend on auto tune and software to correct their flaws and cover up the lack of talent. Ppl eat it up although is has little message or soul. Bow Im not one to judge ppl on what they listen to just because i don't like it. But im just saying blues is in the very roots and soul of America. This man is the embodiment of that and he needs to be heard. I dont care if ppl say he is just imitating whats already been done. Imitation is the highest form of flattery. I think he brings his own style and soul into the mix. Of course he is heavily influenced by Jimi, Freddy, Albert, Srv, etc. He is able to channel them through his playing. Eric is keeping blues alive especially the Modern Electric Blues which draws on history but adds a modern edge to it. All the blues forefathers would be proud. I've seen alot of Blues players try and envoke the amazing players of the past and Eric is elite among them.
@gerryflqnc1459 Жыл бұрын
Totally!! Got a feeling if he performed like this next to J.H, he could well have changed the course of history.
@daled8221 Жыл бұрын
" I'm not sure what is wrong with today's youth". Well it's no different than todays adults that don't know they like blues because they've not been exposed to it! It's more of the question why corporate radio still has no balls to play it because commercials don't want to take a chance on anything different than the same rock songs they've played over & over for the last 40+ years! I've noticed a few times a brand new station starts up & they play some killer blues rock & even great B side albums, 3-4 months it's back to the same ole crap rock that every other station plays!
@kevinlakeman504310 ай бұрын
Today's youth? Ha, what about today's 3-something, middle-aged or today's older farts? I see way the hell more of 'today's youth' when I go to shows than older ppl and I'm over 50. This is a friggin' cruise. What do you expect besides the middle-aged and older?

And those runs are as clear as a bell. Hearing it on YTube doesn't really do it justice. When I heard him live, there was a woman beside me who couldn't believe it. She asked me if he has a special guitar and I laughed and said that's just Eric.
@MindsetMastery755 жыл бұрын
As a guitarist myself, what i really love about listening to Eric Gales play is that when most other people play guitar i am always trying to look and figure out what they are doing on the guitar so i can copy them in my own playing. But when it comes to Eric Gales i can just sit back and enjoy the music because what he plays is just so far out of my league that it is beyond me, so it enables me to say to myself, fuck it, i will never do what he is doing on that guitar so don't try to look what his hands are doing on the fretboard, just listen and enjoy the master.
@TheDiamondsions5 жыл бұрын
The only reason I can’t copy him is because he’s strung upside down and it hurts my brain to figure out.
@ThuggDugg75 жыл бұрын
Yeah his strings are upside down .. like jimi ..
@MindsetMastery755 жыл бұрын
@@ThuggDugg7 Uhhh. No they are not. Jimi plays left handed but still strings the guitar normally. I play the exact same way as Jimi. Eric Gales plays backwards, meaning his high E string is on top his low E string as on bottom. Jimi even though he plays a righty guitar, he flips the strings around so his high E string is on bottom and his low E is on top, which is normal way to play a guitar.
@ThuggDugg75 жыл бұрын
@@MindsetMastery75 oh ok space my fault .. I thought jimi's strings were actually strung upside because the didn't have many left handed guitars at the time and I thought he grew accustom to the strings being upside .. thanks for letting me know though .. otherwise I wouldn't have known.. I guess I should have payed more attention to details .. I could have thought for sure that they were and sort of remember someone telling me that .. I guess I never looked into it and just believed what I was told at the time and never questioned anymore.. lol cheers space .. I appreciate the information
@reesemoe255 жыл бұрын
Space Alien you both are correct actually. Although Jimi did restring right handed guitars and preferred playing that way. He was also able to play upside down like Eric. There were occasions were Jimi would take right handed players guitars when jamming and just flip them upside down and play. Would blow everybody minds when he did it. They're both on different levels and outstanding. Couple others who did too are Albert King and Bobby Womack...

Albert King played a right handed guitar flipped over (with various non traditional tunings) and was able to create a sound many folks including myself love deeply but this is a whole nother thing. Albert's vocabulary was quite limited but it didn't matter. It was the way he said it that never seems to get old. Eric is incredible.
