Doug I have a teen Eric Gales first time on tv sitting in with the Arsenio Hall band. I was mesmerized back then. I believe the Eric Gales band then played paralyzed after.

Really nice to see that Eric has managed to keep himself on the outside. Locking up a talent like this is the real crime in the first place, Cuz he liked to get high, who gives a fuck. Dude lays it down solid and wild like he always has. The man straight up has a bag of tricks that is really really deep. When he wasnts to make p[eopole jaws hit the floor he can do that, but he can also funk it the fuck up, and play beutiful melodies all in the same song. Keep ripping Eric, been a fan since the 90's when he played with his bro Eugene.

This is about as close to Jimi Hendrix as you're ever gonna get. I love this inverted guitar playing genious...great feel great sound and technically brilliant!

Deltassippi Are you using your ears?! Eric Gales is one of the most incredible, soulful guitarists ever!
@RSCL_BEATZ10 жыл бұрын
I will be honest; I hear what you said often and I try to understand how on earth this man could even remotely be compare to Hendrix outside of the white upside down strat. I have looked hard to find where the hype is!? Don't for a minute think I am comparing myself to him; clearly I cannot. To compare him to Hendrix seems silly. I have heard this guy detune his guitar while playing on stage; play out of time and finally at the beginning of a song have to start the song over because he messed it up. He played at "Woodstock" in what '92 (in over 20 years since then never seen him play with any of the greats except he played with Buddy guy once that I saw for one song) and he doesn't get hardly any reaction or draw from a Texas crowd who seem enamoured with their great guitarists? I can't get the math to work. Clearly by the list of names I dropped; I did have my ears on.
@live4musiK77710 жыл бұрын
Hey it's all a matter of opinion. I'm not forcing it on anyone....but Eric Gales is technically very competent and a good songsmith. I just wanted other people to realise his talent with no disrespect to Jimi. I'm also an inverted guitar player (that's different to being simply left handed) and that's why I came across Eric Gales in the first place. I wasn't making a serious comparison but there are definitely huge similarities in style and Eric is clearly influenced by Hendrix. Peace and love and all that good happiness stuff bro!

Nah artistry like this isn't just a matter of opinion. Gales is THAT good.

For people who don't know or don't play guitar: Albert King is the dude who played a right handed guitar with his left hand, had the low E string furthest away-giving weird chord shapes. Hendrix played a right handed guitar restrung for a left handed player, with the strings in the proper position and the usual chord shapes, but got a unique sound with the thicker strings being longer (among other things he did). Both Hendrix and SRV, having big hands, used their thumbs to form chords rather than barring them like most players.

Does this guy play with the strings upside down as well? Reason I'm wondering is that some of the high notes he's playing looks like they're being played at the top of the neck around the low E, A and D strings areas....? How does he get so much loud clean tone from a Strat? Also, how does he play Kashmir without DADGAD tuning on the same guitar tuned at normal EADGBE? Very much a different kind of talent ; . )
@StanWho10 жыл бұрын
U'r right. I think Albert King played w thin strings up too. Does not make sense to me
@johnpshitek24739 жыл бұрын
SouthernPrinceKenny Eric Gales, his late brother Manny (Little Jimmy King) and third brother Eugene Gales all play upside-down, fretting with right. Albert King jokingly referred to Manny Gales as his grandson. American blues history. I recommend the Gales-brothers album "Left hand brand" and Little Jimmy King's Red House when Buddy Miles' is on the drums, and tell me that is not Hendrix'esque shit!

Yes he does play left handed but what is incredible is that he just takes a right handed guitar and turns it upside down the strings are backwards talk about being gifted you either have or you don't Eric has it.

And he's pretty sloppy and off the beat half the time, and a show-off to boot. This guy should definitely not be playing drums in a professional band.
