Tijdens mijn jeugd was Eric Heiden mijn grote voorbeeld.

Eric hasn't changed at all since he was a young man who skated at our old, beloved West Allis Wisconsin Olympic Ice Rink - now the Petit International Ice Center. Every year when the rink opened up, it was a Family Reunion: the Norwegians, Dutch, Canadians, Russians, East Germans, etc.we all knew by the colours of their "skin suits", their languages & the pranks they would pull on each other...Eric was very quiet, humble & down to earth, always said hello to me (even though I was just a figure skater). Diane Holumn was light years ahead of her time in training techniques...all the skaters there changed lives & made the world a better place. What lucky kids we were to grow up together with Eric, Peter Mueller, Leah Poulous,

I remember watching Eric at the nationals in St.Paul MN. in the mid to late 70's when he was in the intermediate, 16-17 age class. I was 13 and in the 13-14, juvenile age class. Even as a young skater who did a lot of goofing around between races I remember stopping to watch Eric skate because even then you could tell he was something special.

To my mind the most able skater ever. As a Dutch guy of course I wanted our skater or the Norwegians to win in 1980. I always had the greatest respect fo him and his humility is an example to all people.

Congratulations! What a beautiful documentary about the history of the best of the best: Eric Heiden. There is no one like him. That's the truth. Eric Heiden apparently never knew his limits. For me the best of all time... if Eric Heiden was tired, the others had already died!

I was seriously looking to write a comment like this. Eric’s attitude really represents the America I want back, know and love. Across the board. Not what we had to deal with the last several years into this pandemic that was allowed to run way longer than it should have

I Think Eric Heiden trained very hard up to that well as hard as Johann Olav Koss did before the Olympics in Lillehamer 1994 (3 Gold and 3 World Record) and it was 8 hours of training Four 2 hours sessions and baby sleeping in between every day 24/7 and this was also a unconversive training rideing a bike in high snow and running in pools just to save his knees for to much strenuous and he ate about 10,000 to 12,000 calories per day for 6 or 8 months, that is sick :O Johann Olav Koss retired at the young age of 25 after 3 World Cup golds in all-round skates and four golds from the Olympic Games and three world records and is now Doctor the same as Eric Heiden :)
