I've seen videos of him in recent years but none of those performances seemed to capture his talent and passion as much as this one. He's clearly been practicing and working out his old magic.

Couldn't agree more.. this version is way better.. I hope he keeps getting better. Anyway, if he is visiting your town, please go watch him.

The master of TONE! Good to see him still playing so well.

wtf awesome, SVR also same age 1954. Still this is mind blowing. Loved and growling same time. Missing SRV.

I was at this performance! My dad and I came for Joe Satriani, since he's been a long time fan and I've been a fan since I was very young. I ended up actually enjoying this part of the show the most and I'm so glad someone got a good recording of it. I'd never heard any Eric Johnson before, so hearing Cliffs of Dover for the first time during a live performance was awesome. Thanks for posting this.

Damn, I was a couple of hours from Tucson and Scottsdale. How come I didn't hear they would be here.

Unless you follow them specifically you won’t. They get practically no airplay or promotion on radio.

I really dig that new instrumental stratagem does he ever play that live

Maybe on his full solo tours. He only played 8 songs on the G3 Tour.

Did you happen to record the next song right after Cliffs Of Dover?
@IShootLiv310 ай бұрын
Only the first minute or so.

@@IShootLiv3Ahh, I've been asking around on other posts hoping somebody recorded the song. According to the website Setlist FM he's been playing the song Venus Reprise otherwise known as "Mountain or Mountain Medley" right after. It's one of his absolute coolest songs. He only played it in 1990 and 1991. It was meant for Venus Isle but he wasn't satisfied with the vocals. If you're a big fan of EJ then maybe you've heard of this. Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. Thanks for the video and I hope you have a good one. Edit: Would it be possible for you to post that video? That would be so freakin' cool.

@@tonythetiger1617 I’ll post what I have when I get a chance. It will be a short since it was only a small recording.
@IShootLiv310 ай бұрын
@@tonythetiger1617 also I’m thinking a lot of people didn’t really record much of his set. His guitar was very low compared to his band, and Satch and Vai.
@tonythetiger161710 ай бұрын
@@IShootLiv3 You know, I've heard the same thing from others that have attended about his guitar being low in the mix. Hopefully this issue is taken care of by the time I see him next week.

I swear that's the same bass player he had on Austin City Limits eons ago.

He did in 1996. But if you're thinking of the older ACL performances (1984, 1988) that was a different guy.
