Fantastic! If only the commentators had the courage to do what Eric had done. Maybe they wouldn't be commentators. Any prick can commentate but it takes balls to stand up and have ago. If the commentators were atheletes when they were younger then maybe they should forget about filling their wallets and help the less advantaged become better people (and swimmers) Bravo Eric. Keep up the faith.

a lot of other jornalists laugh at that too and there were not french and one of them was a big champion and they tell at the end that : "we are laughing, but the olympic spirit was the same as this race 10 years ago" so if you don't understand french don't insult them.

Moussambani gained entry to the Olympics without meeting the minimum qualification requirements via a wildcard draw designed to encourage developing countries without expensive training facilities to participate. Before coming to the Olympics, Moussambani had never seen a 50m pool. He took up swimming only 8 months before the Olympics and had practiced in a mere 20m pool.

I'd heard about this and have just found this video. I was expecting a lot worse: I think his first 50m (in 40 seconds)is pretty fast considering his head is above water all the time. Of course it's not world record standard, but I doubt many people who haven't swam much can swim 50m in that time! I swim occasionally just to keep fit and my breathing technique is probably better than his, but I can only do 50m in 52 secs, so I have great respect for Mr. Moussambani.

That's funny as hell to read all those people say : "yeah those commentators wouldn't do better !" When you know that Stephane Caron (one of the commentators) won 2 bronze medal at the Olympics game, a silver medal in a World Championship and a gold and a bronze medal in an European Championship x) So yeah, keep on flamming them but this is the truth : he didn't know how to swim and was a shame for a competition who was supposed to be the World greatest One. PS: They didn't make any racist coms
