I have read all of The Goon, it is a mix of dark comedy, melancholy and horror, long story threads that change characters and made me care about them. About 90% of the content is good to exceptional, I highly recommend getting the collections.

i hope you guys cover more of Eric’s work! to me, he’s one of the great unsung heroes of the modern era. with every issue of goon, you see him pushing himself with different art techniques, getting better by leaps and bounds…all while weaving this haunting and hilarious story. one of my all time favorite comics

However brilliant this early issue is, Powell's masterpiece only gets better and better. The Goon is one of the most exciting comics ever made, and the story and art is always impeccable. It's sometimes heartbreaking and depressing, is at other times hilarious and thrilling. But it's always endlessly rereadable.

Amen, brothers! This is my first GOON comic but not my last! Eric has a wicked sense of humor and can back it up with beautiful artwork! Great storytelling that doesn’t meander ! Like Ed I wondered the same thing? Damn glad it did!⚡️In a era where people pout about DC&Marvel endlessly Eric’s unique characters have kept my interest for over 20yrs now! I have the Goon Library editions and I also recommend the Buzzard,Hillbilly,Chimichanga,&a helluva lot of great stuff! I finally got to meet Eric in Baltimore last October and he is a very friendly modest guy ! Thanks again,guys! Keep reading and making comix!🎯❤️

There are now 5 volumes of Goon Omnibuses out, titled “a Bunch of Old Crap” (great name!). I only have the first two but it’s gold. The first volume collects the first 4 trades, and the first TPB is actually numbered #0. It collects the 3 Avatar issues and Eric talks about it in the forward, speaking openly about how he disliked his drawing style at that time (thus calling it #0 instead of Volume 1) but felt obligated to include it for the completists. However these remastered Avatar issues (which were all in black and white), are spectacular and filled with way more detail than all the stuff that follows. Personally I think it’s super solid. Really amazing first effort, and although I dig the later stuff, it gets progressively more cartoony, and I dig the raw, almost outlawish vibes in those first 3 issues. It’s all sick and twisted and funny and highly readable stuff.
