Makes me laugh every-time the paper-bag trick, used to keep my dog amused too, I'd do it & you could see him try to follow what I was "throwing" & he'd get confused when he looked in the paper bag. Such simple fun.

I grew up with 3 TV channels. My 10 year-old has a multitude of 'entertainment' windows - most of which cost me! But show her Eric's 'Penny Bag' (thank you Ben for the pricing) and she laughs like a maniac. If you watch her, so she doesn't notice, you can see her following the flight of the rubber ball with her eyes and finger - and that's the genius of Eric - attention to detail and timing. I'll wager any money he mucked around with a real rubber ball to perfect that 'Penny Bag' routine.

Just thinking of what Des might have said about showing up uninvited to the wedding of Eric Morecambe's daughter= Des= "Well, I had to, didn't I? I've always had a soft spot for her, what with the rough start she got in life." Eric "Rough start? Rough start? What's all this about a rough start?" Des= "Having you for a father." Eric= "I mean besides that."

Ernie says "There'll be a line in there that we said when we first started (0:52). As someone who loves stand up, I've watched videos of many comedians over the years, and from across their career span, and you do see this time and again, something that they did when the first started they keep bringing back. One example was Lee Evans with his mime to "Bohemian Rhapsody". When I first saw him he said he was due to perform in France the year before, and had to come up with a routine that would work there as he didn't speak the language. Some years later he does the same mime... and even saying it was for being in France the year before!

It may be very simple for Eric - as he says - but David Frost proves that it takes skill and comic timing to make this gag work when he fails at it. Ohhhh, Eric and Ernie, echoes of a simpler, funnier era when you were at the top, where you belong.

Saw the clip of M&W with the Beatles, which I loved, so have gone down the rabbit hole here on KZbin. And it's HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! from me in NYC. As a child in the 70s, I grew up watching the great Carol Burnett on Saturday nights, but this is just as funny IMO. Shame that their guest spots on The Ed Sullivan Show back in the 60s weren't better received in America.

@ThePaudybyrne well, i dont know if its the 'correct' way, but i hold the bag with my writing hand, and put my index and fourth finger inside the bag whilst the middle finger is behind the bag so i can then use my middle finger and thumb to flick the bag whilst holding it in the same hand so it makes the noise..... If that makes any sense :L
