Exactly! It was horrifying to watch Mali dismantle Nigeria to the point where we couldn't score, could barely have possession, barely completed passes. In fact the first Mali goal was due to them pressuring Nigeria defenders so much that we provided the opportunity via an awful back pass to the goal keeper. At the time I was yelling at my screen saying Finidi George should take notice of what was happening but he quit the team after the match. I am so glad that the NFF was paying attention though! Personally I thought the last AFCON was for Mali or Senegal to win. We got lucky that both teams somehow got knocked out and Nigeria still couldn't clench the title. The Nigeria-Ivory Coast final also needs to be analysed at some point. We messed up so bad.

When you referred to the Christmas tree formation I knew you were an OG. I remember the AC Milan final against Liverpool. Inzaghi was the last man and was a great finisher. He scored every 1v1 that year. I'm hoping that Osimhen can be able to work on his conversion rate. In addition to catennaccio, the Italians ruled football in those years Also will there be capable substitutes who can inspire surprises? We have to look at that as a major tactical joker in the game. We also need a playmaker with vision that can slice up defences with passes. Your formation is tight and let's see how he manages the team to it's strengths

Dear Smith Layi, I hadn't realised you had your own youtube channel. The algorithms recommended this video. I have immediately subscribed and liked Always enjoyed your contributions on eagles tracker. Your predictions there have been excellent. These SE formations are great. It reminds me of how Gasperini sets up his Atalanta Team High pressing from the front. Ademola Lookman should be comfortable, especially in the 4 3 2 1... In Atalanta its Lookman, Retegui/Scamacca, De ketelare frontline, supported by Ruggeri LS, Bellanova RS. Im not sure about Ndidi though, if he still has the legs for that DM position, it seems he is slowing down to me and becoming more injury prone. Onyeka would probably be better. We also need to find reliable cover for Osimhen...So far Boniface has been unable to do this. And in his current physical shape, seems heavy to me. I am unsure if he can do the high press role. His last outing for SE against Rwanda was very underwhelming... Anyway wish Eric Chelle and the guys every success, would be sad not to see Lookman,Osimhen & Co, not being able to display their talents on the World Stage at WC2026 Lets see and thanks again for your excellent tactical breakdown.

@@ai__9187 thanks for your insight. Very educative. But I would think that on the long run, onyedika would be our cdm since he is the most comfortable with the ball at his feet ahead of onyeka. I also think tolu arokodare will be a good back up for osimhen.

@@okpeomojefe5844 Thank you for your positive comment...Totally agree with regards Onyedika. Chelle it seems, likes very mobile, energetic, fwd passing MFs. If Tolu Arokodare can show he can press and hustle defensive line as Osimhen does, I think he should be tried to. So far I have been unconvinced by Boniface's desire, when playing for SE. That Rwanda game should have been an wonderful opportunity to showcase himself for 90 minutes.

Last Eguavoen AFCON was a second round finish in Cameroon, the worst AFCON performance in 40 years. Chelle go to the quarter finals. Eguavoen got 8 points out of 15 in AFCON qualification, Chelle won 15 points out of 18. You are as good as your last job.
