He was such a great guy. I had the honor of directing him in the movie Ranger in the Wild. Everyone on the crew thought he was great, humble and a real treasure.

It is uplifting to see that a director remembers and commemorates an actor he worked with! Many mainstream filmmakers do not even remember who they worked with unless they sue each other.. I take my hat off to your beautiful mix of courage, compassion and sweetness. That's the way a man is supposed to be. All the best!
I was 19 when i moved to Sacramento, California, and a friend i made took me to san Francisco, over the weekend for the parade, this was 92 or 93, we caught his show at the campus theater. He was stunningly handsome and 🔥🔥 hot 🔥! He threw me his calander,( i still have it), because my friend told him it was my birthday ( it wasn't), he signed it for me , after he got dressed. He did reference, to aleays play safe. I totally came on to him, but he only flirted. I kept running into him the entire weekend, and at the parade. I still have pictures i took of him with my polaroid camera 📸... I had no idea he was sick, and cant believe he passed away only a few years later! I just thought about him about a year ago, and found out he died decades ago! I guess medication teally has progressed, in these present times. I'm so lucky i never got sick. Thanks for this, first tribute of him I've ever seen. ❤❤❤

Almost no one remembers how terrifying and sad the height of the AIDS era was. I knew over 100 that just died and disappeared. In my world, i was on the edge of the cliff from 1985-1992 with fear. I met a really nice guy, everything was going well, and then it was just over because of AIDS. it could make a young look like he was 70. I saw shocking things. When covid came and people acted afraid, i said, "you don't even know what fear is."

I do, I remember those scary terrible years of the 1980's when no one knew what AIDS was, where it came from or how it was transmitted, so many victims perished a very ugly death; We lost a generation of smart LGBTQ activists, leaders and quite a lot of artists to the disease. Anyone was vulnerable through those sad years. Reagan and his administration ignored for years the suffering of so many gay men.

So many were lost in that first wave. I lost my brother to AIDS-related pneumonia in 1996. As it is, I can't watch the ending scene of the film "Longtime Companion" without crying. If only, if only... Thank you for this tribute. No doubt Mr. Zellner would have felt humbled and honored.

Instead of being critical, you could've defined ARV for those who don't know the meaning - AntiRetroViral Treatment of HIV/AIDS involves treatment of opportunistic infections, prophylaxis, and antiretroviral (ARV) therapy. Very easy to be kind.

I was 13 when I came out and I was terrified that I was going to get HIV and then it was going to go full blown AIDS but I am now 47 been with the same guy since I was 21. Because of the time when I came out I feel like I may have missed out on some things but I did actually want to settle down, I was not to much into cruising and having sex with random guys I wanted a much more deeper connection and intimacy which I never was able to find until I met my partner who is 12.5 years my senior. At that time, he had just started dancing in clubs and he still had that boy-next-door look, he didn't manscape then and was much hairier than when he was doing porn. A real turn-on for me! @@johnscanlan9335 Despite the emergence of gay liberation in the '70s there were still a LOT of closeted gay men living with women at that time. Call them "bisexual" if you wish but most were just gay men who felt pressure to marry due to societal, familial, or employment expectations. The divide between the '70s out of the closet gen and the closet gen is only a matter of around 3-4 years. The subject of this video is a man who was in a traditionally masculine and heterosexual line of work in that time; it is thus easy to see why he chose to marry a woman.

perhaps, but most porn stars in that era were not activists, just guys for whom the self-validation of being porn stars along with making some $$ (surprisingly little in that era) was very attractive. No shame to the game but it was more about the attention than the dough in those days.
