I remember playing this when it came out, and then years later when I finally saw Bomberman, I swore it ripped this game off but couldn't remember what it was called! And then a few years after that I discovered this was just what they called Bomberman in Europe when it first game out!

Indeed , a surprising partnership between Hudson Soft and Sinclair Research. It's essentially a straight port of the MSX version, which was already called Bomberman in Japan (but the title wasn't apprently politically-correct for overseas markets).

@@josephmarvin3106 there are still people who think that Bomberman in Spain is called 'Don Pepe y los globos', when that's not true, Don Pepe y los globos was a pirated version of Balloon Hopper there was in Spain(and there were more names in Spain for Balloon Hopper).
