It's interesting that so many are surprised by Erica's performance... while Tina brings the firey high notes of Mary Mary, Erica brings the warmth and depth... and not to mention the anointing... take a moment and check out their Super Bowl performance of Lift Every VOICE and Sing. Erica masterfully holds down the alto while giving us superior control and nuances in her falsetto voice.... not every great singer is a soprano, and not every good performance requires a screeching high note. Erica is an awesome talent and a tremendously underrated singer. Awesome job Erica!

So true! Can’t stand how ppl have always tried to make like her voice wasn’t powerful. Both Erica and Tina are power houses that just brought their own flavor. Truth be told I’m sure everyone even had that moment while listening to MaryMary songs, where they thought a note was being hit by Tina when it was really Erica the whole time lol Also she has still been doing her thang as a solo artist too. And like you said everybody is not meant to be a soprano. Some of the best voices in the world sing lower or probably can’t even hit half the notes she even hit in this video :)

I don't know why some people pick at her perhaps because she has had some vocal hiccups which alot of singers experience. She is certainly in her element. She should record this song for her next project, perhaps she and Warren Campbell can penn a classical Gospel style song.
