We’re so excited at Juno HQ to have one of the first units of Erica Synths and Sonic Potions’ brand-new digital drum machine, the LXR-02. This drum machine is such a power little device with plenty to get lost in. Join us as we dive into the world of the LXR-02, explore its presets, test out its performance features and make some truly warped sounds with it…
The LXR-02 is a complex standalone drum synthesizer with a powerful integrated sequencer-a brainchild of two great manufacturers: Erica Synths and Sonic Potions. The sound engine of LXR-02 comprises six voices. Each voice is equipped with a variety of modulatable and tweakable parameters for different elements of the given. This combination of features and synthesis methods offers an immensely vast palette for sound design which can be as easily used for sculpting authentic and familiar analog drum emulations, as for novel gaudily digital flavors of electronic percussion.

Totally love what you do with this thing. Just wow! I'm trying really hard to decide how to jump into my first drum machine. It's so hard to choose between the different abilities of SO many awesome machines. You definitely are making me consider this one. Thanks for the great video!

I have Nord Drum 3P which does everything the LXR-2 does with a way more intuitive user interface and some drum pads, but ... no faders. I just sold a Roland TR-09, which is a one trick pony and only does the typical 909 sounds but can't really compare to a real drum synth like the Nord or the LXR. The LXR does really well, but the settings are a nightmare and it takes some manual grinding to understand even half of it (also there are no global MIDI settings which I hate). So yeah, the LXR is not a bad choice - sounds amazing, does an awful lot incl. lp/hp filters, distortion and so on. But not easy to handle.

This was gold! Thanks for providing and quick and fresh view on this appealing drum machine. I am curious to know how useful it can be to sequence external synths like you did on the first jam! There's so little information on its sequencing capabilities online..

Well, I just bought one. Sounds amazing, love the faders, the lp filters, the distortion, built like a tank, but ... the settings are a nightmare. There are no global settings for MIDI, for example, they're stored in a project (if you only save a pattern, not a project, your MIDI changes are gone. I find this odd). After saving a project, the save dialogue stays open - because you might want to save it AGAIN? Other synths like the Nord Drum 3P go back into play mode automatically - which I find useful as I'm still very much stuck in some settings with the playback muted and can't find my way back to the actual sound. The note settings are odd - when the drum 1 is set to "C1", it triggers at C3 from an external sequencer. I haven't found a way yet to just browse through some presets and try out 150 different bass drums like I do in the Nord Drum 3P with the turn of a knob and instant changes. And the USB cable sat so tight that I think I broke something when trying to pull it out again. So yeah, nice little drum synth, but it has some flaws.

Juno what - that was rather cool,actually.Yeah,no it was - after hearing what it can do i think it would make a good companion to my DB-01.Make some space for da bass to have sweet drums for chums - the LXR of life ?....better check first wiv da trubbil 'n strife.Jabba.Erica Synths & Sonic Potions immerse yourself in their oceans of lughole lotions.Juno wot i mean - i've gotta come clean cos i'm getting quite keen to have sequenced ' Geek-Outs' and seek out some synthesised solace.

Just bought one and returning it. Yes you can get nice sounds out of it but I found the sound design on each Instrument to be not so fun. I would turn the whole knob on some of the different parameters and sound character wouldn’t change much. Overall most of the sounds you get are tinny, metallic and harsh. Not what I expected as a synthesizer. My po32 with microtonic are a much better option and that duo together is only $200. Hope this helps someone that’s on the fence.
